The food here is incredible! It’s so comforting, and I’ve really learned to love Navajo food as an Asian person. The service is very fast and perfect for my lunch break. View all feedback.
What DreamingSmiles07 doesn't like about Ashkii's Navajo Grill:
I loved the food, of course these were childhood favorites! The service and friendliness have much left to be desired. This would have been a great visit if they had a little more livelihood in their demeanor and customer service. All in all the food was great and listening to Navajo hour during lunch was nice! I am sure they have their own reasoning for serving French fries instead of fried potatoes. Potatoes are potatoes but with native food. Just my thought.
Folks come from all over the region to this place because it 's stable, reliable, and folks don 't mess around—unless you want 'em to. I 'll say this: if you know you don 't like mutton, fry-bread or other Native staples, go to Popeyes. But if you 're down with grilled Diné glory, you 'll be right at home here. No Texans involved so nothing is smoked to death or dripping with disdain. —Fresh-grilled squash, cabbage, red onions, mutton, and greasy-greasy fry-bread. —Though if they ever venture into other culinary disciplines to see what happens, I will try the snot out of it. All my nostalgic buttons are mashed here. Atmospherically you can expect flickering lights (sucks, but totally normal , lackluster facade and interior decor—but still adorned with family photography that 's totally magazine-worthy. —Which: if you know—you know. In the background you hear Tribal Radio (100.1 'ish? with news spoken in Diné—which makes even outsiders feel at home and adds a humbling awareness for non-Diné folks. Ren, Shay, and everyone there makes it feel like you 're talking to your brother/sister, etc. To paraphrase Rez Dogs: If you 're not a sh!t-a , you 're more-than welcome. Come here if you want human food made by humans, and a feeling that leaves you feeling a part of something older and bigger than yourself. —No others need attend.
If you are in the area and looking for some fry bread this is the place to go. We got here as they were getting ready close up for the day, but they welcomed us in with a warm smile and made us a great lunch to go. I had been craving fry bread all day and this Sheep Herder Sandwich really hit the spot.

This is a no-frills local place serving local classics. The fry-bread was excellent. Seems to be quite popular with the locals. If you're from a long ways away and have little experience with Navajo/Diné food (such as myself) be conservative with your menu selections as I got a bit more than I bargained for... Great experience overall. My one complaint is that their soda fountain was having icemaking issues so we ended up overpaying for generic canned sodas.
