Magnolia Brasserie at Sudbury House

We chose this restaurant because it was advertised as dog friendly and we were interested in trying their traditional Sunday Roast. However, we were disappointed from the start as we were told the roast could only be served on the terrace of a lovely garden, rather than in the restaurant. Despite our preference for indoor dining, we agreed due to the nice weather. The service was slow, but we were not in a rush. As we began to eat, we were bothered by wasps, which was concerning for one diner who has an allergy to their stings. Our mention of this issue did not result in a solution. The quality of the food was mediocre and as we asked to move inside, we were told that our dog would have to stay outside even though the dining room was mostly empty. Our complaint about the lack of dog-friendliness was ignored. In the end, we decided to leave and the only form of apology was a significantly reduced bill compared to what we had ordered. Overall, a disappointing experience and a shame.

The dishes available are quite good, made with high-quality ingredients and featuring a nice balance of flavors. The menu offers a creative twist on traditional English cuisine, and the desserts are equally enjoyable.

After an extended stay at the hotel where the restaurant is situated, I had the chance to sample nearly all of the menu items and I was consistently impressed. The only disappointment was the pizzas, which I suggest avoiding as they do not live up to the quality of the other dishes. Apart from that, the food is excellent and reasonably priced. This restaurant is definitely one of the best places I have dined at during my time in England, and I highly recommend it. If I were to visit England again, I would definitely make a return trip!
