We had read some great reviews on here about the Wurst Downtown location and were excited to enjoy lunch there when we were in Fargo this past weekend. We knew to ask for a vegan menu based on past reviews. The waitress seemed very put upon right from the start. She managed to find an old vegan menu they still had kicking around but informed us they were phasing away from their vegan options. It was my understanding that they are planning on eliminating all vegan options from their menu in the near future. On our visit, they still had the Beyond Italian Sausage and the Impossible burger, but their buns were no longer vegan. They did have the vegan pretzel and a couple of the vegan dips but again, we were told several times they were phasing out the vegan menu . While we did have an OK lunch today, I suspect the vegan options will be severely limited going forward. Maybe call ahead to see if they still have anything before you go? Unfortunately, I wasn 't super impressed with the vegan options available on my visit, nor with the service.
My husband and I went here for lunch and I'm so glad we did. They have a vegan menu available (ask for it), from which I ordered the Beyond sausage on a bun with all the toppings. So yum! They even had curry ketchup as a dipper for fries. My non-vegan husband had curry wurst which he also enjoyed. Good selection of German and local beers and friendly, attentive service. Hope to go back next time we're in Fargo.
The vegan soft pretzel is the “buttery-ist” soft pretzel I’ve had since becoming vegan. I cannot recommend it enough. It’s the perfect bar food to accompany a good brew, of which they have many. They were out of vegan bread when I went, so I couldn’t try their signature Vegan Fargo. But the normal burger buns are vegan and that did not disappoint
Great food. Great service. The rabbit and Rattlesnake schnitzel was very good. Only ordered it because it seemed like an extreme combination of otherwise unusual protein but I have to say it was totally awesome!
We went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't crazy busy, which we were very thankful for as we found most places in Fargo get really packed with people from out of town on the weekends. I ordered a strawberry/peach sour, when the server brought it overI took a sip and it was pure salt water. I gagged and was horrified at the taste. When our server came back, I politely toldhim it was disgusting and asked if that was suppose to taste like saltwater. He was confused and right away said he'd get me anew one. He left and then came back 5 minutes later and profusely apologized for the error. Apparently the bartender had notflushed out the saline solution and that was what was poured for me. Ick. He gave me a new glass of the sour and it was quitedelicious. The food overall was really good. We started with Bavarian pretzels and they were hot and soft; our entrees werethe Jaeger Schnitzel and Porketta sandwich. The schnitzel was was slightly over cooked but still flavorful and the cabbage wassome of the best we've ever had. The porketta was flavorful, juicy and tender. It would have been a 5 if not for the salineincident but I'm glad that means they're keeping everything clean!
