This restaurant has received a mix of positive and negative reviews. Some diners were less than pleased with the cramped seating, mediocre food quality, and poor service. Others, on the other hand, praised the romantic and old-world ambiance, excellent steaks, and amazing sourdough bread. Overall, it seems that while some customers had a great experience and would happily return, others were disappointed and would not recommend this restaurant.
I feel sad for the folks of Fargo, this crab and prime rib is nasty. DO NOT PAY $90.00 FOR THIS CRAB. Costco has fresh crab for less and fresh, and has great texture and proper taste!! This food is horrible. Servers are very nice, but food is basically dangerous, I was sick within 30 min of leaving. It is clearly frozen, thawed, frozen and microwaved. Do not do this to your body. And the salad bar taking a very big risk eating food that is to be cold, under heat lights in wooden bowls! Watch the food channel, know what you are to expect. As a new resident of the Fargo area, I will never go there again. Save yourself, there is much better.
Well to say the place is cozy is too nice Where we were seated for 10 people. The s the 5 people had to ask the other 5 people to move to get up and to the bathroom. It was just cramped. The food is totally mediocre of a teenage chef that just got randomly pulled from the street. Ordered The pasta , With chicken and vegetables with a garlic butter sauce. Chicken was over cooked so poorly the protein gritted in my teeth , it was leather. I'm sure it got cooked to 220f or above. Noodles were so soft , they had been boiling in water for 30 min. The sauce, well there just wasn't any , and what i could get tasted like 2% milk. If chef cant cook noodles , how are the ever going to cook a steak? Staff was nice. Just do yourself a favor and skip this one.
The atmosphere is very romantic and old world . There are several small dining areas that chain together, instead of one or two large areas. Most unique is that you have a server dedicated to beverages, and a server dedicated to your dinner, so there is very little confusion. The gumbo was incredible. The steaks were what I 'd expect from an A list restaurant. And I almost missed taking about the sourdough bread. I have to believe it is made in house, or for them daily, since the first things I noticed were, 1) an incredible smell of yeast at presentation. The strong smell you should get from a good sourdough. It was warm, tender, and as much as you may dread the word... Moist.even as it sat through dinner. Where inferior breads are microwaved to warm and soften them, only to the up cold, dry and hard 5 or 10 minutes later, this bread was wonderful throughout. I hope I know my bread. I grew up in a bakery. Would drive from Minneapolis to go there again. Readily.
Our family has been visiting this restaurant about once a month for years, but with the recent addition of smoked ribs and chicken, we've found ourselves coming in even more often. The quality of the food, the service, and the atmosphere all contribute to our enjoyment.
