Description

The reviews for Wickham Fisheries are mixed. Some customers were disappointed with the small portions, lack of quality, and unclean appearance. Others praised the friendly service, delicious food, and reasonable prices. Despite some negative feedback, regular customers continue to frequent the chippy for its great service and fabulous fish and chips. Highly recommended for those looking for a local, friendly spot with tasty food at decent prices.

We love this, our local chippy. We’re so lucky to have them on our doorstep and the staff are absolutely amazing. They work so hard and are the friendliest you could find. A busy night tonight, so clearly others are cottoning on too! The food’s lovely, great veggie or gluten free options and it’s always fresh. We tend to order for collection and always recognise us, by name, which makes us smile. Honestly, we love treating ourselves to a chippy tea now. Thank you team for always making it a pleasure, even when you must be roasting!

This is the closest fish and chip shop to our house that does gluten free fish and chips that are safe for coeliacs, using separate fryers. We have been here before and it's been ok but we found the portion a little small but on our last visit the portion sizes were so much better, lovely big fish and also lots of extras that can be made gluten free such as pineapple fritters that you don't often get. I would really recommend it. Gluten free chips are available all the time but if you want anything else gluten free they recommend phoning ahead so they can turn on the gluten free fryer and have it ready for when you get there.

Even though I was the first customer in the restaurant when it opened, I was completely ignored in favor of a local customer who came in after me and had pre-ordered. After nearly 6 minutes, I was finally served, only to be told that I would have to wait another 6 minutes for my fish to be cooked, even though there were already 3 portions ready for pre-orders. I didn't have time to wait any longer and expressed my frustration, only to be told to pre-order next time. I felt unimportant as a visitor compared to the regular local customers. I felt invisible and ignored while they chatted amongst themselves. It's clear that the owner doesn't need to cater to people like me who try to support small businesses. I won't be returning in the future.

I am sad to say that our experience of this chippy was not good. The place looks dirty. The woman serving looked grubby and was less than friendly. The chips when they were scooped out of the warmer looked grey, like they had been there for a while. We ended up cancelling our order. It was all very off putting sadly

It's really hard to believe that anyone can get fish and chips so terribly wrong. The fish is just wrong and the chips generally chewy. We have given them a couple of chances while we have lived in Wickham and they have been equally bad both times. Far better to visit Bishops Waltham or Fareham for edible food.
