Description

Situated in the shadow of the Famous Portchester Roman Settlement with a Castle built in the early 12th Century, our welcoming Pub is a charming destination. The original Pub, dating back to 1650, is at the heart of a village with many period buildings boasting interesting architecture and thatched roofs. With a large car park to the rear and a spacious patio area, guests can relax and take in the atmosphere while enjoying an al-fresco meal and refreshing drink. Inside, you will find characterful separate dining areas, open fires, and ample seating. Our menu features an extensive choice of locally sourced and freshly prepared meals, complemented by an excellent selection of real ales - including a rotating guest ale selection. We look forward to welcoming you and hope you will enjoy your visit as much as all our regulars do.

Warm friendly service, delicious lamb shank and mixed grill. Let down 1 star) for awful dry lasagna and lack of care when it was reported to the staff.

We recently had a small family funeral at the Cormorant Pub and were extremely satisfied with the first-class service we received. The buffet was fantastic, featuring delicious and freshly made sandwiches, homemade dishes, and wonderful cakes. I highly recommend their services for anyone in need of a funeral reception, as they truly go above and beyond to make a sad day a little easier.

We enjoyed the Sunday lunch two-course deal at this restaurant. We had a choice of meats, chicken, or a fruit and nut roast. We requested gravy on the side, which was served in individual boats. The nut roasts came with vegetarian gravy. The dishes were nicely presented on the plates and included stuffing, roast potatoes, roasted carrots, cabbage, cauliflower cheese, mashed carrot swede, and a gigantic Yorkshire pudding that was clearly homemade. Those in our party who had never been before commented on how good the food was. Despite having a three-hour time limit at our table, the waitress rearranged the restaurant table plan so that we could stay to enjoy our coffee and mints.
