I've loved eating Chicago for one reason only, a nice juicy, well peppered Italian beef sandwich. I've been on the hunt for a comparable to the original take for years. Look no further, as this owner operated, family staffed Chicago classic fare stand has all you need and could want. No need to travel back to Chicago- all you'd ever want is right here in several locations Satisfaction guaranteed View all feedback.
What Kari E doesn't like about Chicago Dog:
Stopped in for a quick lunch. A big confusing because they share a space with the yogurt place. I had a chili cheese hot dog pickle spear. it was ok, would have preferred a grilled/fried dog (vs steamed but it was tasty. Fries were super yummy though a bit salty. They had a lot of dog options build your own as well as a variety of sides (the place smelled like cheese curds! Worth a stop for a quick bite! View all feedback.
This place fancies itself as a Chicago-style hot dog shop. If you've ever been in Chicagoland and have eaten in one of the plethora of shops, you'd know that the Dog Haus is NOT one of them. Chicago hot dogs are exclusively Vienna Beef. If you've had them you can tell the difference. These are definitely NOT Vienna Beef even though the sign says they are. Chicago dogs are made with chopped onions, tomatoes, dill pickle spear, sweet green relish, sport peppers, and mustard (NEVER ketchup). They don't have mustard in this shop; WTF? They did get the bum right; poppyseed, but that's about it. Italian beef sandwiches in Chicago are made using Gonnela rolls. They are firm and a bit cheery; perfect to hold the beef and au-jus without falling apart. Here they use a cheap hoagie bun. I had it dipped. It was mush when i sat down at the table. The meat was super dry. The only condiment that goes on an Italian beef are either sautéed sweet peppers or Mezzeta brand giardiniera hot pepper mix. What they serve here is not that. A super disappointing lunch that cost nearly $30 for two of us. I think I'd opt for the frozen yogurt before the food. Of go to the Cub just around the corner and buy your own hot dogs and buns.
Great selection of specialty dogs, but they're not as tasty as their menu descriptions would have you believe.

An unpleasant experience. I think it's too much for the limited staff to be cooking dogs and fries while trying to deal with a line of customers who want frozen yogurt. Every table was dirty and I did not want to sit at a sticky table. No one was going around wiping them down. The surf board tables are too skinny to put much food on and the small round tables spin and are not sturdy. Consequently we spilled our drinks twice when the tables moved on us unexpectedly. I was drenched in Coca Cola. The second time we tried the surfboard table and the drinks spilled because there wasn't enough room. It was quite noisy and the chairs were not comfortable.
I opted for the Italian beef sandwich with hot peppers, dipped, even though I didn't try the hot dogs. Generally, I'm not one to complain about saltiness—given my long list of hypertension medications—but this sandwich was excessively salty. The juice from the sandwich was so salty that I felt like I could shrivel up and float away. I found myself needing an IV of Gatorade for the rest of the day! The meat, while looking authentic, was rather dry—likely a result of the heavy salting. Even if they were to reduce the salt, I don’t think this sandwich would be enticing enough for me to return. Perhaps they just need some time to get on their feet, but I'm not convinced that this dual concept is the right direction for them. Though I am sure the frozen yogurt is good...
