What User doesn't like about The Book Rest:
just ok for vegan stop off, from the smell of speck cook hard in the air, and a bad choice of cake, packed and not so great to be fair, ok, if do not meet vegan friends, but would not recommend for a vegan only party View all feedback.

Vegan eating here is always available and is delicious and pleasant. there is a selection of settees or tables to relax, I would recommend the scones and coffee, vegan cheese, fruit, chocolate or flat, heated with vegan spread. lunches are varied, I have vegan macaroni cheese and salat, mushroom with fresh baked brot and salad, vegan chili and various soups all delicious. updated by previous review on 2018-06-07
Freshly made home weekly specialties, warm skorone, salads, suppen, 3 drench chili all vegan, a warm welcome from friendly staff. all food except gluten-free cake made in the house, nothing prepacked.
It’s pretty easy to miss The Book Rest altogether if you don’t know it’s there. Situated on the first floor above a bookshop up a fairly narrow staircase, you’re greeted with a homely space divided into a sofa section near the windows at the front (perfect for people watching from above as you eat) and more traditional tables in the rear. Vegans and veggies are very well catered for here. A breakfast option now exists (sausage roll with extras) and the main menu now has more options than ever with sandwiches, hot mains, sides and of course, desserts! The staff are very knowledgable if you’re in doubt as the menu isn’t always 100% clear on what is sfv. Food quality is excellent I had a homemade lemon and coriander hummus and bread as a starter followed by vegan macaroni cheese with a side salad. Perhaps my only complaint is the portion sizes. They’re fine for most and very reasonably priced but if you’re really hungry or are used to bigger portions, you might want to order an extra side. Hot drinks are also available such as vegan hot chocolate with cream and grated chocolate.
