Was Anonym at Hubbox a mag?

Get there early or late and you’re sorted. They’ve revamped the menu and it now offers more and better quality veg options. The fries are the same skin on ones they’ve always offered and an excellent selection of craft beers View all feedback.

What Anonym dislikes about Hubbox:

I got a meat burger instead of the vegans. was just a general mistake, but is not up. that shouldn't happen. my own and my partner were very clear that everything should be vegan. I'm not going to come back. View all feedback.

I ordered the Hub Burger, which was large and flavorful, topped with vegan bacon and cheese. My son had the Betsy burger (I believe it was called that). Even though it was a falafel burger, he mentioned it didn't taste overly of falafel. Both burgers were really delicious, and we were happy we decided against ordering fries, as the portions were generous. The place had a relaxed atmosphere and the staff were friendly. It was a bit pricey for a burger, but it made for a nice treat.

From the moment we were served by "Viking" to the outstanding food, I can confidently say that I will always return here. It's amazing in every aspect. Don't pay attention to the negative reviews— the burgers are incredible, and the staff is consistently friendly.

I've visited several of their locations and had the Korean-style chick*n burger, which was fantastic.

Of four experiences at Hubbox in Exeter over the last few years, two were good, the other two were dismal with regards to hygiene, of all things. The first bad experience I had, I ordered a cider and they served a bottle with a glass. The glass was dirty. I also ordered onion rings and there was more ring than onion...like lots and lots of oily batter to just sit and crunch through until you finally got to a slither of onion. Instead of making waves, I drank out of the bottle because I didn 't want to complain, even though the waiter gave ME a judgemental look when he walked past... But, with Exeter 's best vegan places being a bit of a trek with awkward hours, the next time I was exhausted after a long day in Exeter I put it down to mistake and gave Hubbox another go. This time, myself and the person I was with were allowed to go upstairs and it was a pleasant enough occasion: relaxed, warm, cosy and with appealing vegan options on the menu. The dirty glass was officially forgiven. We went back on another brief occasion for more tasty rosemary fries and planned to try their other heavier vegan options in the future. However, the last time I went will be the last and I don 't recommend it to anyone else. We asked to go upstairs, like last time, and were told bluntly no, upstairs is closed. Okay...? So we sat by the cold window on a grey rainy day, disgruntled as we watched people coming and going from upstairs. We ordered herbal teas, the waiter said they didn 't have it, so we ordered something else, the waiter came back and said our original herbal tea order was available, so we changed the order back... Lo! The herbal teas arrived in a plastic teapot with plastic cups and at this point I 'm thinking what the actual... On closer inspection the black plastic with filthy, scratched and so worn it was porous and my friend 's cup actually had an old lipstick mark on it. They looked like secondhand camping utensils?! How can you be that oblivious and unclean? HOW? I swear there were a dozen new Covid variants in those things. We were annoyed and wanted to leave despite being hungry, drenched and tired. We told the woman the cups were filthy and wouldn 't be paying for them and she looked at us blankly and said, without any friendliness or apology: I can get you another one like it was the most obvious resolution and we were overreacting. Bizarre as it is, we didn 't fancy another plastic teapot covered in smudges from another customer 's mouth...

The food was quite good, but my meal was served cold. There are plenty of better options out there.

During my first negative experience, I ordered a cider and was served a bottle along with a glass that turned out to be dirty. I also ordered onion rings but found there were more dough than rings. It took ages to get through to the actual onion rings, which were overly greasy. I ended up drinking straight from the bottle instead of complaining, especially since the waiter shot me a pointed look as he passed by. Given that Exeter's best vegan spots require a trek and have less-than-pleasant hours, I decided to give Hubbox another chance after a long day. I visited again with a friend, and it was a much nicer experience: the atmosphere was relaxed, warm, and cozy, and there were appealing vegan options on the menu. We returned for more of their delicious rosemary fries and planned to try other heavier vegan dishes in the future. However, my last visit will definitely be my last, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. We wanted to go upstairs like before, but were bluntly told that it was closed. So, we sat at the chilly window on a gray, rainy day, feeling disheartened as we watched customers being seated upstairs. We ordered herbal tea, but the waiter initially said it wasn’t available. After ordering something else, he returned to inform us that our original tea order was, in fact, available, so we switched back. When the tea arrived, it was served in plastic cups, which immediately raised alarm bells. Upon closer inspection, the cups were worn, scratched, and discolored, while my friend’s cup even had an old lipstick mark on it. They looked like something you’d find in second-hand camping gear! How can a place be so unclean? I genuinely felt uneasy, imagining all the potential germs around. We were upset and wanted to leave, even though we were hungry and exhausted. When we informed the staff about the dirty cups, they merely looked at us blankly and suggested getting new ones without any friendliness or apology, as if it was the most obvious solution and we were overreacting. To make matters worse, we saw another customer drinking from a teapot that looked just as questionable. Overall, it was an incredibly disappointing experience that I won’t be repeating.

I tried one of the vegan burgers, and it was absolutely delicious!

We'd visited when they just started doing veggie and vegan food and raved about it. However when we returned they had run out of vegan mayo and couldn't offer even the veggie options and this was 6.30 in the evening in the middle of the week. This was really disappointing as this is just the kind of business we want to support. Local, independent, locally sourced produce, plenty of atmosphere.
