The bread and pastries were absolutely delicious but the service at the till was remarkably rude and unfriendly. Despite our best efforts to be friendly and helpful, we were met with such a sour face when we placed our order. We were even slightly told off for placing such a large order! Not sure what we did wrong. Will go back because the bread is so good but please can you be nicer next time?

The boatyard bakery cafe does what it says on the tin! The coffee is from Exe coffee based in Exeter and the bread, cakes and pasties are freshly baked each day on site. Forget imported Cornish pasties go for the real deal! I doubt that anyone produces a better cheese and onion pasty, full of flavoursome ingredients with minimal crimping . Enjoy sitting on the walkway around the Ship Canal Basin whilst watching youngsters learning various water sports or eat inside and watch the staff baking. Best value of all the coffee venues on the Quay.

Have been here too many times to mention so thought it's about time I wrote a review...the best bakery in Exeter by far! Their croissants are to die for. Good coffee too. Only downside is there's not much indoor seating so best to go on a dry day and sit outside and admire the views of the canal!

The bread, pastries, and cakes at this restaurant are delicious! They are some of the best in Exeter. Although the service has been inconsistent in the past, as mentioned by other reviewers, the staff have been very friendly and welcoming recently. I would definitely recommend stopping by to grab a fresh loaf of bread, a cardamom croissant, and a nice cup of coffee.

Nice open plan space… don’t feel welcome, service is lacking, no smiles, had to repeat my order several times: I complemented the resident artist present in the cafe to which the waiter replied… with a detailed assessment of my outfit!… I found it most inappropriate…a bit creepy… perhaps customer service training? Not for me, sadly
