You pay a premium for the historic cloister location and character of the building however much of the same can be achieved in town more cheaply with modern amenities and larger rooms. Basic rooms are small and very basic. Funky bathroom smell. Stained carpets. Cleaning is lacking. This is not an upscale lodging option. View all feedback.
Good light lunch with generous servings of wine. We enjoyed grilled veal and chicken in gravy with mashed potatoes. Best part of the meal was the Chocolate Torte.
Like many of the commentators here, we took lunch at this Pousada restaurant after a long morning's tour of Evora's evocative historic sites. The restaurant is situated mostly along two side lengths of the convent's courtyard cloisters, providing a lovely casual garden atmosphere to the finely-set mostly foursome tables. The lunch menu is not extensive, but suitably oriented to the salads-and-small-entrees desires of exhausted mid-day travelers. The wine is fine too. And about as welcome to aforesaid noontime guests as the culinary offerings are the spacious and nicely-done restroom facilities, especially for stressed-out ladies. Likely the best tourist dining spot in town, all in all.
