We were the only ones who spoke English and the only... read more We had dinner here on a Friday evening in April 2017. We were the only non local people in the restaurant. We were the only ones who spoke English and the only ones who did not speak Portugese. Ordering was fun! However with the help of a phrase book we got by and Moma kept us in line, very helpfully reducing some of our order to half portions where she considered (quite correctly as it turned out) we had asked for too much. My wife had a half litre of local white wine and I had a couple of beers. We had full starters and then a glorious mixture of meats and fishes with salad. Despite the half portions there was tons to eat and it was absolutely delicious. Our magnificent feast, with tip, cost less than 40 euros! Pola is off the normal tourist track but offers real Portugese home cooking prepared with passion. Fantastic!
