The Cellar - Evanston
The Cellar
Description
The Cellar restaurant in Evanston offers a pleasant dining experience with good food and friendly service. While some dishes like the scallops and stuffed shrimp were enjoyed by guests, others like the overdone salmon and lackluster lobster bisque fell short. The atmosphere was cozy and the bartenders were attentive, but some guests found the restaurant to be a bit chilly, especially near the windows. Overall, The Cellar seems to be a moderately priced option with potential for improvement in consistency and attentiveness to guest comfort.

My only complaint is that it was very cold..had to keep my jacket on the entire time.was near a window and breeze was coming right thru the glass. I shut the blind to stop the breeze and staff opened it again. They didn't seem to care that we were very cold. Other people had their coats on too, not just our table.
I wanted to like this place when we returned to it but our experience was disappointing. We both ordered a soup course first and the French onion lacked onions and flavor and was mostly bread and the lobster bisque was just ok iobster stock used rather than lobster shells so flavor weak. Calamari arrived cold and then overcooked. We called it a night. Our server was excellent and very helpful and friendly.
The server on more than one occasion attempted to take plates with food from the table. This made me feel very rushed.
