Feedback
La Macchina in Evanston is a favorite spot for delicious Italian food. While some found dishes like pasta, steak, and octopus underwhelming in portion size, others raved about the creative pastas and rotating meat and fish specials. The atmosphere was pleasant, but the unnecessary lounge singer made conversation difficult. Service varied from immaculate to distracted, with high noise levels. Overall, the restaurant offers top-quality ingredients, friendly service, and authentic Italian dishes. Don't miss the bolognese over hand-made pasta. La Macchina is a must-visit spot for homemade pasta and Italian fare with an affordable wine list.
The restaurant had a nice outdoor dining atmosphere. The food was delicious, but the service was a bit slow. Despite that, I would definitely go back.
The food at this restaurant, whether it was the pizza, steak, or pasta, was extremely salty. The service was inconsistent, and we had a hard time getting the check. The outdoor atmosphere was pleasant, but the unnecessary lounge singer made it hard to have a conversation.
I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it. It may not be as popular, but it's definitely worth a visit!
The food at the restaurant was delicious, but the portion sizes were not very large. We received only ten medium-sized tortellini with our order, and the octopus dinner special felt more like a generous appetizer. However, the dinner salads were a good value and everything tasted great. The service was just okay, as the waitress seemed distracted due to the busyness of the restaurant. The noise level was also very high, making it difficult to have a conversation. Even though we were seated in the back of the restaurant, the live music made it hard to hear each other.
I'm not sure what was happening last night, but the restaurant was completely out of popular dishes like lasagna, penne, and tiramisu. There were hardly any customers, and the service was really strange (we had a reservation for four but were seated at a table for two, etc). At one point, someone brought out raw seafood on a slimy plate to show us for a "future menu" while we were eating dessert (which was totally gross). I used to like this place, but I was really disappointed.
