Description

Simon Sushi offers a mix of reviews. Some praise the fresh, delicious sushi with generous portions and reasonable prices. Highlights include the Suicide Roll and the Sashimi. However, other diners found the sushi mediocre or thought the rice was subpar. There are complaints about staff behavior, with one customer upset by being pressured for a tip. Despite mixed reviews, Simon Sushi is recommended for those who enjoy a value-driven menu in a casual setting. The service is a hit or miss, but the wait times can be long during peak hours. Overall, Simon Sushi offers a decent sushi option, especially for those looking for budget-friendly choices.

Simon Sushi is located in Chinatown on Spadina between Cecil and College. Steps away from Grossmans Tavern. Decor is nothing to write home about but the sushi is very very good. There is a Simon and he is the sushi maker. two can leave satisfied for under $60.

Firstly, food review: Overall it was mediocre. I got a party platter to split with four people. The sushi was okay, but definitely didn't taste fresh. For the price, I could've gone to an all you can eat sushi restaurant and it probably would have been better. The presentation was nice (sushi boat), and they included complimentary tea and miso soup, which was good.If that was all, I probably would have left an okay review. However, I definitely can't recommend this restaurant after the way the guy treated us! I paid with credit card (~$50) with the intention of paying the tip in cash. Immediately after I handed back the card reader to the employee, he yelled at me for not including a tip. Taken aback, I handed him $5 and he said, "Don't forget next time." in a very annoyed tone. Absolutely inappropriate for him to have that sort of audacity. A tip is to encourage good service, and it's not a right. I do not recommend this restaurant for that reason.

Nothing special about this place. I had a sushi bento box and I found the taste and food to be below average. It was not expensive and they did give a good quantity so it falls under you get what you pay for. There are many better budget sushi restaurants on Queen near Spadina which I would recommend going to. It does have a local type vibe and there were lots of regulars coming and going so I think that is what keeps it going.

I recently moved to the neighborhood and was pleased to find a fantastic sushi restaurant nearby. To my surprise, the place is excellent - although a bit pricey, the portions are generous and the staff is friendly.

The food at this restaurant was fantastic! While the establishment itself appeared a bit divided, it was very clean, even in the restroom. The sushi was outstanding, especially the Sunlight Roll with sweet potato inside and mango on top. It was unexpectedly delicious.
