Nice to try some places off the main streets to get that authentic feel of the area. Thank you. The cod fish was cooked delicately in a light batter and very good. Recommend

Outside ea... read more Cafe Mencey is a delight in the centre of Estepona. Dressed with crisp white tablecloths and sparkling glasses you have a choice of eating in or out. Outside eating is on the pavement under umbrellas in the heat where you can sense the atmosphere and watch the hustle and bustle all around you. Salvador is a reserved but charming host, he doesnt speak much english but his menu is in different languages. The food is very spanish but very good, fresh, everything is all cooked to order. His pil-pil is one of the best in the area. The prices are also very reasonable. Its a little gem that you might otherwise walk by.

But an update August 2020: waiter grumpy, the gazpacho watery and tasteless, and the calamares fritos so tough I actually couldn't eat them, I left more than half. Shall not visit again.

Would have given it 5 stars but it’s situation, on a pavement opposite a large car park is a bit weird, and the owner who is also the waiter is the quirky bit. Having said that the portions of excellent mainly seafood dishes are better than many a fancy restaurant. The ubiquitous Pil Pil Prawns are in a class of their own; the fried goujons of cod are superb. Not a destination dining experience but hugely enjoyable nonetheless.
