Contribute FeedbackBilly's Taphouse offers a mixed dining experience, with some customers praising the fantastic food and service, while others express disappointment in the quality and quantity of their meals. The menu features reasonable prices and delicious options, including burgers, mussels, and local craft beers on tap. While some reviewers mention pleasant surprises and a relaxing atmosphere, others criticize the slow service, watery drinks, and underwhelming dishes like gristly ribs and bland nachos. Overall, opinions are divided on Billy's Taphouse, with some vowing to return for the excellent food and atmosphere, while others swear they won't be coming back.
Worst service in a restaurant in a long time. We were a party of 6. Ordered 1 Caesar, crown pepsi which they did not carry Crown 3 craft beers. My Ceasar was horrible, they did try to remake it but it seemed that it was very watery. I also ordered a Pepsi or Coke which again very watery and sent it back. We waited for at least 1 hour for our food. When the food came we had no silverware and no condiments on the table for the burgers. We asked for them and received Ketchup. Tried to get the attention of the waitress to get Mustard but could not so I got up and went to get my own Mustard. My husband did noticed that while we were waiting for our food, the waitresses were checking their phones and putting cutlery together in napkins. The fish had 2 very small pieces but when I said something as they were putting the plate down they brought out another piece. The poutine was not eaten. This review should show that we will not be back here again.
Billy's has a surprisingly wonderful selection of Canadian microbrews on tap. I don't think you could find a better list in a 200 mile 322 km) radius. They come by the pint and cost $6.50. The food was mostly good, too. I enjoyed the harvest wrap, which is the only veggie sandwich on the menu. The fries, apparently made from nearby potatoes, were some of the best fries I've had in a long, long time. Get the fries. The nachos come in small $12) and platter $17) portion. They were probably the blandest nachos I've ever had, and wouldn't recommend them. But the fries! Service was friendly. They have a few high chairs for los bebes. Ample parking in the lot. All in all, a beer and french fry lover's dream in good old Essex.
Wow! Thank you Yelp for helping us find this place. Spouse loved her chicken apple cranberry salad. My chipotle chicken wrap was really full of flavor. Nice they had choice of several side options with it. The side salad was of the highest and freshest ingredients. The kitchen here does not cut corners on quality which surprised me for a small town pub. They really take pride in both the food and the service. Server was very friendly and helpful. Keep up the great work!
The restaurant serves delicious fish and chips made with fresh walleye/pickerel and hand-cut fries. It's absolutely delicious!
Great local food and super service. Seasonal menus and chill patio. I love Billy's Taphouse.
