Contribute FeedbackVidya's Veggie Gourmet in Thornton, ON has garnered mixed reviews from customers. While some were impressed by the beautiful location and quality of their vegetarian dishes, others found the prices to be high and the portion sizes lacking. Some diners complained about the long wait times for food, unavailable menu items, and slow service. However, others praised the restaurant for its attention to dietary restrictions such as gluten-free and vegan options. Overall, Vidya's Veggie Gourmet seems to be a hit or miss dining experience depending on personal preferences and expectations.
A quick jump off HWY 400 at Innisfield Beach Road is the small town of Thornton. There you will find Vidya's Veggie Gourmet for all Organic Gluten Free Cuisine. I enjoyed a lovely patio breakfast and Herbal Tea. Staff was attentive and engaging.
Having just returned from 16 days of amazing vegetarian/gluten free/dairy free food in Portugal on retreat I was actually shocked at the food. The salad was good and a huge portion however the mushroom burger and poutine was not really edible. We did mention to the waitress that we didn't like the burger and eat less then half and none of the poutine but there was no reaction, almost like this may have been a common response. The selection of organic wine and beer was good and service was fine.
Amazing food, service and calm environment.I loved the suggestion of the dish, a sandwich made with an ingredient made with a flower and salad. Everything was fresh and assembled with detail to enhance the vegetarian dish.
My husband and I are delighted to have found this place. Gorgeous old house full of character and the food is to die for. Flavourful, healthy, filling, and well-priced. Not sure why all the reviews aren't glowing, but we are glad to have found this treasure and will definitely be back.
We were visiting the district, and were steered here by the advisors of trip. The restaurant is in what appears to be an old crossroads inn, tastefully decorated and furnished to retain elements of its rustic origins. Our Indian dishes were just the right degree of spicy, and both delicious. They were also quite substantial, contrary to other reports here -- a fair bit more than what I'd expect if ordering organic in Toronto or Montreal. We ought to have been more self-disciplined but couldn't resist trying a dessert: the apple crisp was excellent, very cinnamon-y. The service was friendly, helpful, and on a relaxed pace, as befits the country crossroads setting, and the care that is clearly put into the food. We both agreed that we will seek out Vidya's when next travelling in that district.(PS: This restaurant is associated with a yoga retreat nearby. I would consider attending if it meant getting to eat at the restaurant regularly!)
