we had the pleasure that the restaurant was open at every night of our last stay, as mme rintou is such an excellent cook. there is a focus on seafood and fish everything very fresh, but meat is also on the menu. like salate. the food is cooked to order, so it is a cozy meal instead of almost food . if they have the opportunity to try the house made lemon tarte. What Martine Lefebvre doesn't like about Auberge Du Cabestan:
Having had some delicious meals and wonderful memories of this restaurant from many years ago, we we delighted to find that it was back in the hands of the same family who ran it when we last visited. Whilst we were made to feel very welcomen, unfortunately we were very disappointed with our meal - not the same quality of fare that we remembered from days gone by. View all feedback.
For guests staying at the hotel the set menu is varied each evening. We ate in on three of our four nights and there was plenty of choice. The owner is very selective over where she buys supplies from to ensure the food is of the finest quality and she came to the table each evening with the menus and her personal suggestions and we were never disappointed.Real personal service. Good selection of wine.Restaurant closed on Sunday evenings.
Traditional French and Breton menu with plenty of sea food choices. Really enjoyed the fish soup and the crab with a lovely good value white wine. We stayed for one night, enjoying the peace and quiet at the end of the season. Pleasant location to relax with easy access to Pointe du Raz, by car, bus, and bike.
- The interior of the restaurant is very poor and tasteless. Cold atmosphere.- The owner accepted our dog, when asked before, but when we arrived, the dog was not welcome at all.- The food was exceptionally poor.- Even after we asked for serviettes, we didn't get any. And that after eating langoustine for starter!!!! (and of course no lemon water)!- We were told we get fish with a sauce for main dish, which doesn't have fish bones. Well it was bony! and no sauce!- The side dish: carrots and potatoes were mushy, not peeled and cold. - The top of disgust was the desert: the strawberry tartlet was hard as a brick! Not eatable. The chocolate cupcake wasn't baked well, still liquid. - The dinner with three courses took 2 1/2 hours. Worst of all, we paid more for the menu than in any other restaurant during our holidays in Brittany.
We stayed at this hotel for three nights (separate review under hotels) and ate from their standard 23 euros three course menu twice (they do not open Sunday evening). The owner, Marie-Noelle, takes the lead with the cooking and was happy to talk us through the menu choices in her excellent English. We thought everything we were offered was top rate (we especially enjoyed her traditional home-made charlottes. We gathered her parents used to own this hotel some years ago and that her Mother made charlottes too.)Wine prices are not unreasonable (good range at 14 euros).Breakfasts were also very good and enjoyed in the restaurant overlooking the gardens.Altogether a very nice country restaurant if you want to get away from the nearby small town of Audierne, good parking and easy to locate.
