What Andrea Aiello doesn't like about John Henry Tavern:
Went for drinks/dinner. Sat at bar because no hostess in sight for 5 minutes to seat us. Bar was so loud with a few drunks so asked to sit in dining room and was told ok. Should have known when only a few tables were taken. We sat for 20 minutes and no wait staff ever came to take our order. Spoke with manager to complain and then a waitress followed us out telling us that we don’t get served unless we are seated by... View all feedback.
I went to lunch here with eleven other ladies, and we sat in the Porch Room. The view of the course through the window is very pretty and the opposite wall has a long painted mural of a golf hole. Our server wasn 't very friendly but she was attentive and allowed us to have separate checks which was appreciated. I usually eat plant based/vegan but make exceptions when I 'm out and will eat vegetarian and sometimes a bit of fish. There were only three vegetarian options on the lunch menu pasta primavera, a veggie burger, and a hummus pita pocket. It wasn 't clear if any were vegan or just vegetarian. I 've had bad experiences with pasta primavera elsewhere (bland veggies and overcooked pasta), I 'm tired of veggie burgers, and I eat hummus at home all the time, so I decided to try the fish tacos special. The food all looked really good, but I was disappointed in my fish tacos. At first glance they looked impressive large chucks of fried fish that didn 't fit down into the tortillas. Unfortunately that was pretty much all there was to the tacos. Each one had a bit of lettuce, small pieces of tomato, and a jalapeno or two sitting sadly in the bottom of the shell. There needed to be much more to make these tacos and not just fried fish in a tortilla with no other flavor. They really needed pico de gallo, maybe guacamole, some cabbage slaw, etc. The experience overall was positive so I 'll definitely go back and try something else on the menu. I do wish they had more vegan options and that they were labeled as such. Vegetarian options: Small section of three vegetarian options, plus others not labeled scattered throughout the menu a couple of appetizers, grilled cheese, garden and Caesar salads. No vegan options labeled.
Large portions Sharable Chicken salad sandwich (Mayo not miracle whip) Hubby ordered fish tacos not the best (fish and slaw).
I go there often. Good food, great steaks Reasonable prices in the current recession. Dietary restrictions: Will meet your dirty restrictions for mean. Parking: A large lot, the building used to have movie. Kid-friendliness: The staff was friendly and accommodating. Wheelchair accessibility: Handicap accessibility is no problem.
