However, the omens were already ominous: We had to wait 10-15 minutes for the menus. The candle on the table remained dark, the cutlery was completely missing and we had to ask for it. The feeling of somehow being forgotten was immediately apparent. When we finally wanted to order, we were ignored again until, after a long wait, the waitress finally came over and simply said, Oh, I completely forgot about you. Things like that can happen, but afterward, every effort should be made to make it right. Instead, the wrong food was brought to the table. One plate happened to be the right one, the other completely wrong. Two people were able to eat right away, while the other two had to wait at least another 20 minutes. No apology, no explanation, nothing. When I expressed my displeasure, there was no response. Later, the same waitress came to the table with schnapps. Two out of four people don 't drink alcohol, and even in this situation, not a single sorry was said. This gesture seemed less like an attempt to make amends and more like an attempt to shake off the problem. At the end, we were offered espressos, which was well-intentioned. Nevertheless, a very negative aftertaste remains, because the most important word of the evening was consistently avoided: sorry. Particularly disappointing: Two of us work in the restaurant industry ourselves and are truly understanding, know what stress means and how quickly things can go wrong. However, treating guests with respect is one of the absolute basics. The food was truly delicious, so that wasn 't the problem. But good taste alone isn 't enough. Service, attentiveness, and appreciation are just as important. It 's a shame. After this experience, we unfortunately can 't recommend the Plietsch in Esens. Mistakes can always happen, you just have to own up to them and take them seriously.
