Been here a few times and the paletas are awesome. I like how going in, it feels like there's a scene that goes on here... like a club scene, only for desserts. I was also really happy that I didn't have to choose from just the pre-dipped ones, I had my ice cream bar dipped in real-time, which was really cool. I'll have to come back to try other flavors as well as have some of their esquite. View all feedback.
What nellie gomez (Nellie) doesn't like about La Michoacana:
Bad and very slow service the line was literally out the door and we asked before we started waiting if they still had elotes she said yes after 20 minutes of waiting! We finally get called up and ask for 2 elotes the same lady told us they didn't have any left like wow seriously we just asked you she said yeah other people order too she was very rude about it horrible service. I typically don't write negative reviews, but this left a bad impression on me. She had reddish-brown hair and was wearing a black hoodie or shirt, but I didn't catch her name. While I don't expect restaurant-level service at an ice cream shop, a little common courtesy can go a long way. I hope this isn't a recurring issue because while the ice cream was great, being disregarded in that manner makes me hesitant to return.
We had a small family gathering and someone asked us to pick up a chamango on our way over. This place opened earlier than most of the other options we found and was conveniently located. While I couldn't see an official price menu because their digital screens weren't on, all the cup sizes and prices were clearly labeled. The staff was very patient and answered all our questions. We ordered four large chamangos and one small horchata, and everything was delicious. When we mentioned we had a 30-minute drive ahead of us, they kindly provided us with a small bag of ice to keep our drinks cold during the intense heat wave.
I really wish I could give this place zero stars! Don’t waste your money here—this restaurant only employs females who are selective about which customers they treat well. I’m honestly shocked that they are still in business, as none of the staff seem to understand basic customer service. If you're looking for delicious ice cream, I recommend going the extra distance to places like LA MICHOACANA in San Marcos or even Gelato by Grand Ave in Escondido. Their service is excellent, and the prices are fantastic! Restaurants like this one simply don’t deserve to stay open!
I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant due to extremely slow service. The line was practically out the door, and when we asked before starting to wait if they still had elotes, the staff member said yes. After waiting 20 minutes, we finally got to the front and requested two elotes, only to be told by the same person that they were all out. I was taken aback and pointed out that we had just asked about them. She responded unapologetically that other people had ordered too, and her attitude was quite rude. Overall, the service was terrible.
Today, I visited with my kids to get some ice cream, and it took us about an hour to be served three items. One of the employees even started chatting with a friend while there was a line of customers waiting. This was our first and last visit; I was really disappointed with the service. It's not worth your money—I'd recommend going somewhere else.
