When the grand opening the food was amazing but this second time we came the environment was un inviting our server wasn’t welcoming as we noticed she welcome everyone with a smile my wife and I ordered our usual as we do at any sushi restaurant California roll when we received our food we were not happy our California rolls only had crabmeat which only two had avocado we always order water with lime our waters we’re definitely tap water for a tab of 19.29 we did not get our moneys worth we had pizza take after we left the restaurant disappointed. The restaurant before this restaurant Wong Deli the food was amazing great service and the owner was very humble.

Great service! Makara has been our go to sushi in Oakdale...and now in its new Escalon location! The owners have worked hard to achieve consistently Five-Star dining experience!
Deep fried Green Beans were very watery and no flavor. Definitely not enough coating on them to make them
On our way back from Yosemite and we heard about this place (Mom and Pop Shop) in Escalon for their food. So we stopped and never regret it. We ordered their Beef Teriyaki over Rice, Miso Soup, the Makara Sushi San Francisco Rolls. That was the best dinner ever. We ate the sushi in its natural state, without soy sauce or Wasabi, because it didn't need it. Beef Teriyaki was tender and the rice was perfect. Give this place a try, you won't regret it. So next time we go, we hope he gets his alcohol license by then. Vegetarian options: If you want vegetarian, talk to the chef, he can help you choose. Parking: Is in a strip mall shopping area, plenty of parking.
