It'... read more During the festival in Erlangen a dining table may be hard to come by. Most Bavarian restaurants will be closed as most people will swarm the festival area. It's so packed that sitting down to eat is only for the lucky.Downtown most of the open restaurants were Italian or Asian style, but we were lucky to come across Römming after a bit of walking. All eight of us had shoulder of pork with kraut and kloß, which was excellent. Waiting time was short. The strudel I had for dessert could have been crispier, but it was still tasty. The plum schnapps were excellent. The menu had a surprising amount of asparagus dishes I'd like to try if I come back.

Entrée was Katova Pecene- beef (Rinderbräten) in a spicy but not too spicy paprika sauce and Czech Knödeln to soak up that delicious gravy. Large portions. Nutella Crêpes for dessert. Entire meal plus beer €25. Located near the train station. Go early as it is packed even on weeknights!

English la... read more Stumbled across Römming while roaming the street of Erlangen after a long day of business meetings. Simple menu, friendly service, Good tasting food. English language menu was a bonus. Don't shy away from Devil Slice starter. It's slightly spicy, but very delicious. Pairs well with helles style bier. I'd definitely go back as it has that local feel and not touristy.

I go there because I like hearty food. They also offer lighter options. The service was excellent. Its central location (near the castle square) makes it easy to stroll through the city and then end the day with a good meal. We parked at Theaterplatz.
