Was Anonym at Oar a mag?
The most delicious meal I’ve had out in quite some time. The staff were excellent and the room was beautiful too. Looking forward to returning as soon as possible. View all feedback.

What Anonym dislikes about Oar:
this was then the highest point of our culinary experience in earth! I would buy a flight ticket from kanada to eat here! the owner went out of his way to ensure that every detail was covered and that we had the very beaten culinary experience. View all feedback.

I have been wanting to visit this restaurant for a long time, but due to a combination of poor planning on my part and the fact that Oar is popular and not very large, my last-minute attempts to get in before were not successful. This time, I made sure to come specifically for Oar, and I am glad I did. Although this restaurant may not have a Michelin star, it definitely deserves one. I started with the high-quality, perfectly spiced tuna tartare, followed by the scallops. For my second main, I ordered the venison. The staff had been clear when I made the booking that they needed the table back by 8, which I appreciated. For dessert, I had the milk chocolate ganache, which was superb. The service was friendly and efficient. I enjoyed two glasses of the house Sauvignon - floral, sharp, and tasty - and two glasses of the house Malbec, which had strong dark berry flavors. I had the muscat for dessert, which some people may find too sweet, but I thought was superb. The Irish coffee was solid but not extraordinary. The restaurant is relatively expensive, but in my opinion, it is amazing and offers good value. I would have loved to try the tasting menu, but it was not available when I dined solo. The staff were kind enough to accommodate me next time I visit. The service was of a high standard, somewhere between casual and formal. The ambiance of Oar, set in a large house, is not my favorite, but it wouldn't deter me from coming back. Next time I visit Doolin, I plan to stay at the homestead cottage and have a second night at Oar. I will inquire when booking about their availability.

We had the most wonderful evening at The Oar in Doolin. From the moment we arrived, Kieran and the staff made us feel so welcome – the service was warm, attentive, and genuine. For starters, we enjoyed the summer salad and chicken liver pâté, both beautifully prepared with fresh, vibrant flavors. We paired our meal with a crisp Prosecco and a lovely glass of red wine, which complemented the dishes perfectly. For mains, the caramelised duck breast was simply outstanding – rich and perfectly balanced – while the salmon special was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. To finish, we shared the cheese board, which was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. The atmosphere, food, and service all came together to create an unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommended if you’re in Doolin – we can’t wait to return!
