The Divide - Encampment
The Divide
Description
Nestled in Encampment, this polished spot delivers consistently impressive food and desserts, a striking dining room and a lively bar. Despite standout dishes and community-minded service—rescuing events and turning out pizzas on short notice—the front of house can be uneven: slow drink delivery, inattentive servers, staffing gaps and occasional presentation lapses dent the experience. With tighter service coordination and attention to detail, the restaurant’s kitchen prowess and atmosphere suggest it could become a true local gem.

The positives: This place is outstanding, and I would definitely return and recommend it to anyone. One side features a bar, while the other is a beautiful restaurant. Both areas are decorated exquisitely, with stunning bar tops on either side. However, the decor pales in comparison to the food. We were a party of four, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Honestly, the chef deserves a raise because the food was exceptional. My wife's steak was cooked to perfection. If you're in town, you should definitely check this place out. Now, onto the reason for my three-star rating: our server. Although he conveniently didn’t have a name tag, his name was Matt. He completely lacked any social etiquette—there were no pleasantries, like "please," "thank you," or "you're welcome." I spent half the meal wondering if we had upset him in some way. When he came to take our entree order, he didn’t even speak; he just stood at our table silently. To make matters worse, he didn’t write anything down when taking our orders, which may have contributed to the mix-up with our food. However, the excellent food made us overlook these issues. Upon leaving, we confirmed his name as Matt through the check and another staff member. When we mentioned that our server had provided poor service, we were told that he had experienced a "meltdown" earlier that day. I’m not sure what that entails, but I’d prefer for him to keep it together during my dining experience. In summary, Matt’s service was disappointing, but the food at The Divide was fantastic.
