Elche (elx) is less touristic than for instance torrevieja and the food is in most cases better, more refined. So if you want to get away from the big crowds and want to mingle with spanish people... this is it. The restaurants are great in...general and so is domgim. The first time we went during the weekend where you find yourself in a crowdy ambiance but never too loud and this time we went during the week when it s slower. The waiter made us a kind of honoured guests, but he creates that feeling for everyone. You feel welcome and happy to be part of the scene. We ordered a bottle of the best cava at 27 euro (there is cheaper and more expensive. In general wines for everyones taste and wallet with red wines at 2.5 euro a glass) and he proposed some oysters with **** mary granite (ice) and soya. I took 3 and they were heavenly. Order them! Than i had tuna tartar. I am a bit traditional and order a lot of times carpaccio or tartar so i am used to different versions and tastes. This one was the best i ever had. 12 out of 10. The seasoning, the way it was presented and it s freshness was top nodge. I sat right in front of the kitchen. As i was a chef i still love to see them work while i do nothing. Now ladies and gentleman i will tell you what a sous vide or vacuum machine is. It takes all the air out of the packages and everything stays much longer fresh and tasty just like it tasted when it arrived from the supplier. A bag costs between 10 cents to one euro and it takes a longer time to pack it in than with some plastic foil. Between the lines: chefs who invest in time and money to give you the best and freshest food deserve my respect and you know that they are concerned about your health and clean kitchens. Domgims kitchen looks spik and span. my wife is pregnant so yes it matters a lot. Now and always) She had the toro which looks like carbonade filled in a kind of fagita. Great again but i would take it as a main course because it s a lot. Or share of course... Now my only remark... the main dishes. It is ok and they have original burgers and good and tasty meats. We had the porc. That comes with french fries they were as good as the real deal in belgium) but i missed some sauce and a bit of vegetables next to the green peppers. When you had the oysters and the tartar it s like you ve entered another restaurant. Desserts are again delightfull so I think that i expect perhaps too much of the main dish? The menus are in spanish so i explained with my hands and feet and the waiter was fantastic to give some help in english with his hands and feet. There are a lot of local people so i can understand why the menu is only in spanish although it s a small investment to have one or 2 english or french versions as well. But don t let that scare you (oystres, caba, tuna, vino tinto, toro, tarte tatin, gracias and la quenta should do the trick). Wines are excuise, appetizers and first course was heavenly, the main dish was ok and desserts are fantastic. Combine this with a modern cosy interior, great service and prices for all budgets and you know that it is one of the places to be/ go in elche.

Situated in the cosmopolitan city of Elche is this absolute gem of a restaurant, we were invited by a Spanish friend to join her for lunch. She has been to the restaurant on several occasions before and recommended we should try it. Firstly you will...need to book, there are two floors in the restaurant and both were full. We had the menu, which was €15 for 3 courses and included a drink. For the FIRST time we all enjoyed all the courses, the flavours and quality of the ingredients were amazing. The team serving were all very warm and friendly. The kitchen was partly open to the restaurant and the chefs worked in a clean and organised way. There was a full menu which to be honest I did not check out, but we were seated near to the kitchen so I watched lots of food leave and it all looked amazing. We will definitely return. I have to tell you that I loved the dessert so much I was prepared to marry the chef!!!
