The squid rings and octopus are superb but a bad experience with the sardines led friends to avoid the place for more than a decade. The dessert selection is uninspired. But it is open on Mondays so one need not...resort to Pompilio!

Actually, we didn't get to eat, in fact we didn't even eat. We ordered a pre- prandial glass of wine and then tried to sit at one of the, perhaps plus empty tables and were told by the single most obnoxious waiter ever encountered...that we had to drink our (seriously appalling) wine standing at an aluminium table. We didn't even drink the wine (thank goodness) but paid and left. This is possibly the worst case of customer relations I have ever encountered. Do not EVER go anywhere near this pathetic excuse for a restaurant. They do not deserve to continue trading.

After we visited Elvas we went back here for some lunch. After some bread and some white-colored local ham (which wasn't that good)...my main dish came, a beef with fries, rice and egg. It tasted alright, nothing special but also not bad. As a dessert I ordered a strawberry cheesecake which came in a cup (supermarket stuff) and was with raspberry instead of strawberry but it actually tasted good. Service was a bit slow. Altogether it was okay but not more than that, there should be better restaurants in beautiful Elvas.

Sympathy is a MUST as well as the food, I strongly recommend.
