Contribute FeedbackWithin minutes we knew what we wanted: the sushi boat. After 15 minutes of the waiters ignoring us we flagged them down. 45 minutes had passed since and I could see the sushi chef preparing it for us. There's only so much green tea one can have. We were excited when it was coming towards us only to beeline to the table opppsite us. After another 10mins we ordered an entree. 1.5 hrs later we were finally able to get someone to stop at our table (keep in mind the restaurant wasn't even half full) & we asked when it was coming. I saw the chef put away the sushi boat before they frantically got it out again. They had forgotten our order! No one checked to see if we were ok and no one cared. Fine you forgot it- unprofessional but forgivable. BUT DON'T IGNORE US FOR 15 MINS AFTER ONLY TO SAY 'WE RAN OUT OF RICE'. An Asian restaurant does not run out of rice on a Saturday night and I can see it hasn't run out because it's overflowing on the tables near us. We got no apology and they expected us to pay full price. We ended up being the last in the restaurant. Go to the restaurants next door-they're still buzzing into the night.
Our regular Japanese place close to home. Food always good, service can be variable. Sushi &sashimi set is a must to share.
It's a BYO restaurant amongst several other restaurants near Kooyong Rd. We been to this eatery several times, the tables are nicely spaced which is a pleasant change from the often cramped seating arrangements struck in many places. This was mid week and there were 2 other tables (4 people) & we were a table of 12 so you'd think we've get at least average service with only 16 people in the whole restaurant. It took 30-40 minutes to get a glass, an empty glass mind you, for our wine, another 10-15 minutes for some water. I had to go and ask twice. The waiter asked us to write down on his pad what our orders were and of course when they came out he had no idea who wanted what. I got my sushi entree 2 hours after my main was served, it took over 3 hours to get our food and there were only 4 other people in the place. The food was tasty and the reason we went, their menu has something for everyone, but I doubt we'll bother again. Some to the dishes we had were the tempura vegetables ($16), Gyoza ($8), Tori Teriyaki ($18) & Chicken Yakisoba (fried noodles) $15.
Kaga's, located on Glenhuntly Rd in Elsternwick, is a fantastic Japanese restaurant known for its delicious food.
I have been dreaming for quite some time of indulging in a boat of raw fish where I can let my fingers explore and sample the delights.
