Just stopped for strudel and coffee. And very nice it was too. Just right In fact : Recent visit, afraid cafe seems to have deteriorated a bit, well the strudel had.
I visited four times over a four week period the first time on my own, and the other three times with cycling friends in a group. When there on my own the service was pleasant and friendly, but when in a group the lady at the till was rude and unhelpful. This cafe is really popular with cycle groups, they have a bike rack outside to encourage you to stop, but I have never been somewhere where the staff are so rude at times. There was no need. The cake is lovely as is the coffee, maybe they don’t want cyclists to stop there in a group anymore?
Once again, I’m here to leave a very positive review for the place that keeps making my breakfasts happier every summer. It’s been years since I discovered it and it is still always a MUST in my summer schedule, more than once a month: with friends, family… we call it THE German Cafe. BEST CAPPUCCINOS EVER I literally live for them, never tried anything that comes close. Traditional german breakfasts (they always seem to have run out of the Bavarian one; not happy about it), cakes, Spanish and continental “bocadillos”, all sorts of breads… Lovely waitresses and a a lovely piece of heaven between Verger and Els Poblets.
