As a Jazz Musician based in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia, I can say with some authority that we (the band) get to taste a large variety of pub/club food. I have holidayed in the U.K and found the local Pub tucker (food), to be a lottery at best. The Red Hill Pub in Chewton offers a basic "Aussie Pub Food Menu". "Basic" is being unkind! It just happens to have the best pub tucker with a touch of class and a focus on p... View all feedback.

We decided to give a local pub a try as most restaurants in town closed for the long weekend Sunday dinner shift. I have not eaten here for many years. We decided to have a lite bite and tried the salt n pepper calamari, saganaki with lemon. Pricing was reasonable at $12 which offer ed a good offering. I thought the squid was just ok as the batter was not fully cooked and no sign of salt n pepper. The cheese was nice... View all feedback.
We had a nice Sunday dinner with the family. my little boy loved playing in the Cubby house and under the big tree with some of the lkw in the game area. the outside area was rustic and pretty and a wonderful place to enjoy sunshine. when the clouds came over, the outside fireplace was somewhat warm. the personal was warm and welcoming and the meals were tasty without being amazing. they needed some time to get out, but our waiter was apologetic and it was cool. especially the red hill hotel has a great atmosphere. the pub has a rustic country charm, combined with a quirky contemporary edge, located under beautiful historical buildings. the quantity is cooled and family-friendly. let go of the house. I'm glad we made it!
Cracker place. Great live tunes. Pakora Haggis is stellar. Very hospitable service. Good range of beers. Ticks all the boxes.
Dropped in on the way home from Melbourne for an early dinner. Perfectly cosy ,beautiful building, very friendly staff, great set menu and wine list. Live music happening as left highly recommended!
Quirky country pub with great beers on tap and quality wines. Staff were friendly. Do friendly on footpath outside or in the beer garden. Check it out.
We went for Sunday lunch and it was all gorgeous. Friendly, cook, down to earth staff. Ordered a glass of Shiraz and had Roast lamb (Sunday special) (generous serve, hot, crispy potatoes, tender lamb) and chips with curry sauce. Has a traditional pub vibe, warm fire with just that splash of retro hipster thing to make it a bit funky. Loved every minute. Fun Sunday outing
