Sushi Island - Elmhurst

My family and I have visited this restaurant a few times, always leaving a tip. I understand that restaurant staff rely on tips as part of their income. The food is good, no complaints there. However, on one occasion, when it came time to pay the bill, the server grabbed it out of my hand, pointed to where I should write the tip, and pressured me to hurry. This made me quite upset. I had planned on leaving a tip, but the server did not give me a chance to think. I ended up just paying the tip on my card and leaving. As my sister and mother were exiting behind me, the server stopped them and demanded more tips, claiming I had not left enough. I went back to see what was going on, and the server was very rude, saying that we should have checked with them before leaving the tip. This is not how customer service should be. Tips should be at the discretion of the customer, not demanded by staff. It was a disappointing experience that put a damper on the entire meal. This kind of behavior is not acceptable.

My visit to the restaurant today was absolutely terrible. It is the worst place to eat. I found hair in my food, broken dishes and saucepans. My drink was also not replaced without paying for another one. I will never go back to this place to eat. I guarantee that you will be disgusted and angry with their service, so do not go there and ruin your day.

The food at this restaurant is delicious and made exceptionally well. The avocado juice was exceptional, not to mention their delightful matcha-flavored ice cream. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience.

The personal is very disoriented. they are so confused when it comes to getting out and dipping. it is understandable during the busy times to have a person to have the names for the people who pull out, but no whole system is messed up where all customers need to wait more than 30 minutes. also during covid, they do not follow protocol to mask completely up.

Just ordered an UberEats order with the usual spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls to only find out both spicy salmon and one spicy tuna roll were bad. After taking a bite I could taste and “smell” a very foul taste that doesn’t belong there. I’ve had these rolls at numerous restaurants and this is the first time I’ve had to throw out rolls for not being fresh. Ridiculous.
