A very nice hotel with comfortable rooms and good beds. The outstanding thing we noticed was that nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Tracy, particularly, made us welcome, helped with my luggage and was an absolute delight to deal with. We all agreed that we would happily stay at The Bear again without hesitation. Service: 5
Went to dinner with some friends and the food was terrible! Burgers were dry, came on a small plate, no coleslaw as they had run out, the crumble tasted weird couldn’t eat it, crumble topping was like dust and the custard was split and like water, we had to send it back, overpriced food which was nowhere near up to standard. I’ve had better burgers at a school fete! Nice young lad serving who was very apologetic and another man who was obviously not comfortable with people. Will not be returning!!
This pub is wonderful! I had an amazing roast dinner and the people there were lovely. I was dining by myself and felt welcome and comfortable. I will definitely be returning soon, this time with friends. A special thank you to Poppy, who took care of me and made me feel like writing a review. A five-star meal at a five-star place. Thank you so much.
The venue was absolutely fantastic! We hosted our recent wedding reception in the beautiful function room, which was adorned with spectacular crystal chandeliers and a stunning stained glass ceiling. It was a truly wonderful setting! Our events manager, Josh, was incredibly accommodating, kind, and patient with us. He never once said no to any of our requests! The venue, a converted old stables with a large fireplace, perfectly suited our vintage style reception with antique tablecloths and fairy lights. The room was bright and airy during the day, with full air conditioning, and romantic and cosy in the evening. Ben helped us with set up and stayed late to ensure everything was taken care of. Portia and Ben served a delicious canapé style buffet and ensured the food kept coming, even though we had over catered! Chef Mateus went above and beyond to make us a special cheesecake with fresh strawberries. The manager, Ollie, has assembled a fantastic team focused on exceptional customer service. Planning a wedding for 50 guests was surprisingly stress-free without any red tape or restrictions. The entire team made our day relaxed and beautiful. Some of our guests stayed in the boutique hotel with elegantly furnished, comfortable, and spotless rooms. A huge thank you to everyone at The Bear, especially Josh for his outstanding service despite some scheduling issues. We highly recommend The Bear for any celebration, they will exceed your expectations! - Mr. & Mrs. P
