Was Anonym at The Bear a mag?
it is rare to find a pub as warm and welcoming as the bear after we pulled a year ago, it was the first place we came to eat on the moving day (stream, a (big) burger in the corner felt rather shell shocked by the hordes that surround us (sandown concert) but knew that we found a juwel. What Anonym dislikes about The Bear:
my friend had booked this pub as near the sandown antique fair we visited on Easter Sunday. we were greeted by a friendly waiter who gave us the history of the room in which we were about to eat. Previously the stalks, with a traditional color scheme and attractive chandeliers. we both ordered the half-red huh on Sunday afternoon. it came instantly and looked impressive, but the hawn was dry as the huge yorkshire pud... This pub is wonderful! I had an amazing roast dinner and the people there were lovely. I was dining by myself and felt welcome and comfortable. I will definitely be returning soon, this time with friends. A special thank you to Poppy, who took care of me and made me feel like writing a review. A five-star meal at a five-star place. Thank you so much.
The venue was absolutely fantastic! We hosted our recent wedding reception in the beautiful function room, which was adorned with spectacular crystal chandeliers and a stunning stained glass ceiling. It was a truly wonderful setting! Our events manager, Josh, was incredibly accommodating, kind, and patient with us. He never once said no to any of our requests! The venue, a converted old stables with a large fireplace, perfectly suited our vintage style reception with antique tablecloths and fairy lights. The room was bright and airy during the day, with full air conditioning, and romantic and cosy in the evening. Ben helped us with set up and stayed late to ensure everything was taken care of. Portia and Ben served a delicious canapé style buffet and ensured the food kept coming, even though we had over catered! Chef Mateus went above and beyond to make us a special cheesecake with fresh strawberries. The manager, Ollie, has assembled a fantastic team focused on exceptional customer service. Planning a wedding for 50 guests was surprisingly stress-free without any red tape or restrictions. The entire team made our day relaxed and beautiful. Some of our guests stayed in the boutique hotel with elegantly furnished, comfortable, and spotless rooms. A huge thank you to everyone at The Bear, especially Josh for his outstanding service despite some scheduling issues. We highly recommend The Bear for any celebration, they will exceed your expectations! - Mr. & Mrs. P
