I stopped in at Chic's Restaurant in Ellington. It's near the Vernon town line. I had a breakfast of bacon and eggs, hash browns and rye toast. Everything was nicely prepared from scratch and the potatoes were fresh cut and very good, not from a package. Although the rye toast wasn't prepared on premises, it was excellent. Attention to my coffee cup was frequent. This cafe is much like an old-time diner and the decor... View all feedback.
What Rob J doesn't like about Chic's Catering:
I typically enjoy small, family-run restaurants, but unfortunately, this one did not meet my expectations. With only two people in the restaurant, I should have realized something was off. The coffee that came with my breakfast was a tiny, 4-ounce cup and the potatoes were burnt. The server was incredibly rude, never acknowledging my polite gestures or saying "thank you" or "you're welcome." Overall, it was a super a... View all feedback.
3 people waited 15 minutes to be recognized at all, just to find another 2 top was also waiting. I have taken orders from all others when I went out for a call. a single customer looked at me and went back to the kitchen. I didn't even wonder if I wanted anything at all (including a drink) until they had eaten on the other two people I sat with, not sure how it is in operation with service that is bad
My man and I love this place. it is a person operation, not to go a place when they are in a hurry. eating is great. the owner and the customers are friendly. they get a real sneaky breakfast. great lunch and phenominol pinned bark meat and cauliflower in the fairytale.
Instead of visiting strange. there was only one worker and she was the waitress and the cook. I sat at the counter, but she asked if I wanted to go to my command? she could only seem to wait the order of a person so ready at a time.
We felt as if we had to get the cook/wax through the breakfast. Eat took forever, coffee refill for ever, and waited for over 20 minutes to check (it literally gave 4 other people at the place, all at the counter) before I got up from the table, and sworn through the register to pay. I wanted to use the bath (because my food served as a clone cleaner), but after the sight of the flour, I went back with respect. avoid this place as the plague!
Never open. I have been trying to eat there for years. I haven't given up hope. One day I will eat, one day i will sit, one day... the place is my great white whale
