Each time I've been told they were open till 9 so I've even come early at 630 and was told they were closing and only doing to go orders... they lady's name was Cali and she was very rude about the wholesituation . As far as the food though because we did decide to do a to go order, it wasn't bad. View all feedback.

The restaurant is in the hotel lobby and is an inviting space. We were staying at a nearby hotel and saw this restaurant was close by. We were told to choose a table, as it was not busy. After a few minutes, a hostess brought menus and said our server was busy but would be with us shortly. When she came, we asked what the soup du jour was and she said meatball soup, which my wife ordered. I ordered the Cajun pasta, which was supposedly to come with penne pasta, which I like. We also ordered hot tea. The tea came, but with no spoons, no sugar, and no saucer to put our used tea bags on. Also, we were not asked if we’d like some water. I had to ask for all of these, which were provided. Then, we were informed that the meatball soup was in fact steak soup, whatever that is. It was more like bad beef stew. It was greasy, and the veggies were mush. My Cajun pasta came with spaghetti instead of penne pasta. Our server explained that they had run out of penne. How does a restaurant run out of something so basic as penne when it is a key ingredient in a permanent menu item? The dish itself, despite the absence of penne, was not bad. Just a tad spicy but within range. However it was short on the mentioned seasonal veggies, being as it was just green and red peppers, which are pretty much always in season. All in all, sadly just not up to par. There’s potential, but they need to step it up a bit.

Been here three times now. Every time we show up they are always closing early or just closed. Called this morning the lady on the phone said they would be open until 9. Showed up at 7 just to be safe and was told that they were closing. I mentioned that I was told they were open until 9 and the lady at the front was very short and said ya well I 'm closing early and only doing to go orders. She then went to the cook and apologized for having to cook our order. Do not recommend

What a dump. Zero effort from the staff. No water pressure. Dumpy grimy pool area. Gathering place for the staff's late night parties. Dirty stairwells. But nice beds.

The only reason I'm giving this place two stars is because I used to visit often when I worked in Elko back in 2020. Back then, it would have received 4 or 5 stars from me. However, I returned to Elko for the first time in almost two years and decided to stay at my favorite hotel and restaurant. (This review strictly focuses on the restaurant, as my room is lovely.) I ordered my usual ribeye and received a rather disappointing piece of meat. The steaks here used to be a solid ¾ to 1 inch thick, but this one was less than ¾ inch and had significantly more gristle and fat than I would expect for $33. When I sent it back, my waitress offered a number of excuses, saying it must have been the last one or just a bad cut. But if that was the case, why did the cook serve it to me? And if it was just one bad steak, why even cook it in the first place? Do I look like someone who would settle for that? This used to be one of my favorite spots in town, and I spent the last couple of years recommending it to friends passing through. Not anymore. I’m done. It seems like this place started off strong and pretended to be upscale, but it's not worth your time unless you can't drive and are already staying here.

The restaurant is located in the hotel lobby and offers a welcoming atmosphere. We were staying at a nearby hotel and noticed this restaurant was conveniently close. Since it wasn’t very busy, we were invited to choose our own table. After a few minutes, a hostess came by with menus and informed us that our server was busy but would be with us shortly. When our server arrived, we inquired about the soup of the day, and she mentioned that it was meatball soup, which my wife decided to order. I opted for the Cajun pasta, which was supposed to be served with penne, a pasta that I enjoy. We also ordered hot tea. The tea was brought to us, but there were no spoons, sugar, or saucers for our used tea bags. Additionally, no one asked if we would like water. I had to request all of these items, which were eventually provided. We later learned that the meatball soup was actually steak soup—whatever that means. It resembled a poorly executed beef stew: greasy and with mushy vegetables. My Cajun pasta, intended to be made with penne, arrived with spaghetti instead. Our server explained that they had run out of penne, which seems surprising for a restaurant to run low on such a basic ingredient, especially in a dish featured on their permanent menu. Despite the missing penne, the dish itself was acceptable, though it was just a little too spicy for my taste. However, it fell short on the promised seasonal vegetables, as it simply contained green and red peppers, which are generally available year-round. Overall, the experience didn’t quite meet expectations. There is potential, but they definitely need to improve.

I've attempted to dine at The Ruby three times for a date night. Each visit, I was told they were open until 9 PM, so I even arrived early at 6:30, only to be informed they were closing and accepting takeout orders only. The woman attending to us, Cali, was quite rude about the situation. However, regarding the food—we did opt for takeout—the quality was decent.

I've been to The Ruby three times now, and each visit has been disappointing. Every time we arrive, they are either closing early or already closed. This morning, I called and was told they'd be open until 9 PM. To be safe, I showed up at 7 PM, only to be informed they were closing. When I mentioned the hours I was given, the woman at the front was curt and said she was closing early and only accepting to-go orders. She even apologized to the cook for having to prepare our order. I cannot recommend The Ruby, as their service and adherence to their posted menu hours are unreliable.
