Was Paul Cater at Darroch a mag?

One of my favourite places to stay in Lossiemouth/Elgin. Pretty much a run of the mill hotel, rooms are standard with no frills. However, I find the rates are very reasonable and guests get to use the gym and spa, this is a lovely touch and great way to relay after a day out. Staff are friendly and courteous, especially Natalia who really helpful and a credit to the hotel. Very dog friendly and on-site restaurant is... View all feedback.

What Ian Jamieson dislikes about Darroch:

Went there for an Easter dinner to give it a try after they advertised heavily. It was the same old same old. We were the only people in the restaurant and the food was average. There is no change to the decor in the restaurant in any shape or form. View all feedback.

Rooms are a bit dated, however the amenities are ample, beds are clean and comfortable and the shower water is hot! Whilst this hotel would benefit from modernisation, the bar, restaurant and spa facilities are excellent and cater very well for guests. There is a simple yet well executed food menu that is far superior in quality to that of well known competitor hotel chains. The staff are warm and welcoming and make staying here a relaxed experience. Kudos to the team Service: 5

The rooms may be somewhat outdated, but the positives definitely make up for it. The beds are clean and comfortable, and there’s plenty of hot water in the shower! Although the hotel could use some modern updates, the bar, restaurant, and spa facilities are excellent and greatly enhance the guests' experience. The menu is simple yet thoughtfully designed, offering a quality that surpasses that of well-known hotel chains. The staff are warm and welcoming, creating a relaxed atmosphere throughout the stay. Kudos to the entire team!

While the showers in the room may be a bit dated, they are impressively powerful, which I consider a significant plus. I would definitely recommend this hotel for both personal stays and excellent value.

I stayed for one night, and the room was quite small and rather uninteresting, with plain white walls and no decorations. The electrical outlets were inconveniently placed away from the coffee area and kettle. I had to squeeze against the toilet in order to close the bathroom door to access the shower. The walls were very thin, so I could hear everything from neighboring rooms, including conversations in the hallway. The Wi-Fi in the room was repeatedly unreliable, and there was also poor mobile phone reception, making it difficult to use my own data. On a positive note, the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurant was excellent and well-presented. The service in the restaurant was fast and friendly as well. I would suggest focusing on improving the hotel accommodations or transforming it into just a restaurant rather than maintaining it as a hotel.
