Big Skillet Pancake House - Elgin

I have never been so upset by a restaurant owner's bad attitude in my life! On Friday, October 7, 2022, we inquired about the Senior menu, and the owner, George, came over to inform us that there was an error in the Clipper's flyer and that he would not be honoring it. He even said that I could leave if I didn't like it! I have never experienced such disrespect from an owner before. I believe this qualifies as false advertising; if you're not honoring your advertisements, you should at least post a notice at the entrance. There are plenty of other places to eat in Elgin and South Elgin where I won't have to deal with such an unprofessional attitude. Now I understand why his best waitress, Arlen, left after being there for so many years! The Golden Skillet at 740 Chicago in Elgin is far superior—great food, friendly staff, and much more affordable!

I picked up the lemon pepper chicken meal from the Big Skillet restaurant and took it home. I chose mashed potatoes as my side, and the vegetable was green beans. I also opted for the cream of broccoli soup. On top of that, they included two dinner rolls and some crackers for the soup. I have to say, this dinner was absolutely fantastic! I order lunch or dinner from here every now and then, and they never disappoint! I highly recommend this place!

The selection is fantastic, and the food is of excellent quality. The staff is friendly and attentive. I would much prefer to support a family-owned establishment like this over any corporate chain any day.

Sent Jeff over to Big Skillet Restaurant to pick up dinner for us. I mainly wanted the chicken soup. The dinner will become two lunches for me. But the best thing was this sweet note from one of our favorite servers. I love their food and their staff. They make you feel like family.
