With an 8pm flight from Alicante and a car full of overheated teen, toddlers and parents we wanted somewhere Spanish to bid adios before heading home. This was open at 5 (the staff were having lunch inside), notionally air conditioned and served up authentic simple...tapas and cold drinks with big smiles and an admirable tolerance of one of our four-year old's fractious troubled behaviour. It's at the heart of the town and part of the life of the Place and it was nice to be in somewhere that felt local. The food was good, not spectacular but good. The Fried Fish and Calamari were very good. The Patatas Bravas were big warm crisps in tomato sauce and the allioli was fab. We had to send back chicken wings as they were not cooked through. They were taken and redone in good spirit. My daughter likes tomato, so they brought us a big one and the house salad was crispy and tasty. With drinks and pre-flight tantrums the bill came in at well under 50 Euros and we left refreshed, happy and ready to fly home. There is a good playground nearby and a supermarket opposite and I recommend it as a good pre-flight stop, 5 minutes from the airport.

We really enjoyed our meal here before flying back to the UK. Our Spanish is very limited so it was great to be able to choose the Lucky' menu for €30 euros for two including a bottle of wine. There was no choice, apart from...the colour of the wine, so we could just sit back and enjoy the delicious food. The starter was a large platter of thinly sliced Iberian ham and a selection of cheeses accompanied by a quarter of a loaf of bread toasted, with aioli and garlicy tomato pulp. The main course was a sharing platter of strips of entrecôte steak cooked to perfection served on a bed of char grilled vegetables and chips. We were delighted with our meal (and also with Hostel Pensimar) and would thoroughly recommend both.
