What Simon Roy doesn't like about Kai:
Ordered fresh fish for sushi. The Ora King salmon was amazing. The otoro tuna was a joke. Don 't waste your time. They either don 't know what good tuna is, or they didn 't think I would know the difference. Either way, I wouldn 't count on them for sushi again. View all feedback.
Amazing fresh high quality seafood. I've tried numerous times. Saku blocks are my favorite such a great deal to have high end sashimi in comfort of your home. I've tried numerous other fish as well (Ora King .. Barramundi .. crab meat is amazing and high end for those dips or chowder ..lobster tails.. . Love it I've recommended to everyone. They also do a Friday pop up but you can order online and you have a greater selection available. The pop up seems to have selected items on sale (Forgot to mention my other favorite is the shrimp amazing for those shrimp cocktails .

I met the owner from a business engagement and he introduced me to the New Zealand Ora King Salmon which is flown in overnight. This species is considered the Rolls Royce of seafood and served at fine restaurants in Southern California. I also purchased the ready cut salmon in a container along with seaweed and poke sauce to make a home made poke bowl for a reasonable price. The pop up sale is well organized and popular with locals. Arrive early to avoid the long lines.
Delicious seafood directly shipped to your door! It's an online seafood wholesaler but they do retail orders and offer pickup at their El Segundo location, but since they offer free shipping for any orders $125+ to all of SoCal, and it's so easy to fill your cart to that amount, it's really convenient! I've tried a couple of things including most of their sashimi saku blocks. (Saku block is a rectangular block of sashimi fillet where you just simply need to slice it up and serve! Oh my their sashimi was delicious, definitely better than a lot of mid-range Japanese restaurants but not as good as what high-end places offer, so I'd say if you can enjoy that at the comfort of your home, score! What you must try is their Tasmanian ocean trout from Australian, Ora king salmon from NZ and hamachi (yellowtail from Japan! Recently they also added Chu-toro and Oo-toro from Baja California! Their ocean trout looked and tasted like salmon, but it's got a deeper red hue, less salmon flavor but more buttery mouth feel. Their salmon was very flavorful but didn't taste as buttery as the trout, also the color was a little more orange. Then the hamachi was just fresh and full of hamachi fishy flavor! I've tried the Chu-toro twice. The first time it wasn't that fresh. It tasted a bit too metallic and the meat turned a bit brownish already, but the second time was much better. Their Oo-toro tasted just like butter! Also it wasn't the freshest quality with the pinkest color but still fresh enough to consume for a reasonable price. I also think they mislabeled they Chu and ootoro in my order because one clearly tasted more buttery and less meaty than the other. Ah they also sell fresh authentic wasabi in a tube and I love it! It wasn't mixed with any horseradish. As for their other fish, their frozen Chilean sea bass was amazing. Very buttery and easily prepared with a convenient individually vacuumed sealed packaging. Their hoki was also delicious with a subtle flavor. Did I forget to mention they also sell caviar!? Yes! One time they had a sale to clear their inventory I believe because there were only a few weeks left before the expiry. I got a tin of 100g Siberian caviar made in Italy for $40! It also came with its own (black blue ice. Their original price was $70 so it's still reasonable given a lot of places will only offer free shipping when you shop more than $300. I'm a fan of this place! I told all my friends about it but none has really tried it out yet lol. I hope you will!
The best seafood you can get anywhere. I have been ordering from Kai for a few years now and my order is always on time and the food is the best quality you can possibly get. Yes, it's a bit expensive...but you get what you pay for!
