*Update 5/6/2021 PERMANENTLY CLOSED The Tamale Guy Montclair RIP) I stopped by a few days ago to read the handwritten sign on the front door,my fears were realized. This location is permanently Closed : It says to visit their Claremont location Foothill Blvd). Sad,this was my go to spot for Tamales. Never had any bad experiences to report with their food or their service.
What Luz S doesn't like about Tamale Guy:
Service was good but the tamales I got were underwhelming. For starters, we ordered all corn tamales but our order got messed up and got chicken. Sadly we did not realize this mistake until we had already gotten home. The tamales we got were almost tasteless. We will give this place another chance but we will see how it goes... We went to The Tamale Guy for the first time early December. Only bought two chicken tamales. Hardly any chicken in them. Mostly cornmeal. Very disappointed!

My to go Tamale Spot. I've tried other places but I always come back to here. Very tasty but wish they would put more meat in there.
There WAY to much MASA. No flavor. My husbands from East LA where Tamale are juicy and delicious these were dry and just almost frozen tape. And the customer service was lacking. When you have two girls working one should always be up at the front to take care of your customers. There was one on the phone and one doing something in the back I shouldn't have to wait that long just to get a tamale. Definitely will not be back.
