Contribute FeedbackHudson's has garnered a reputation for its hearty food, nostalgic decor, and good service, making it a go-to spot for many. Diners have enjoyed a diverse menu featuring everything from burgers to sandwiches, often praised for flavor and generous portions. However, recent experiences reveal a troubling inconsistency in service, with reports of slow responses and a lack of attentiveness. Notably, a mishap involving spilled food highlighted deficiencies in staff training and customer care. While many return for Maria's stellar service or the lively atmosphere, patrons are increasingly concerned about cleanliness and overall experience, prompting some to reconsider their loyalty.
On Sunday, September 25th, a group of us gathered to watch the Bears game as we usually do. There were about 10 to 15 of us and we were having a good time until a waitress accidentally spilled leftover food on my head and also on my friend next to me. I politely asked her to be more careful, but she responded with a dismissive attitude. I did my best to control my anger and didn't make a scene at the restaurant. However, I am still upset about the incident and will now have to find a new place to take my family and friends when they visit from Illinois for the Bears games.
I had a very disappointing experience at Hudsons. The restaurant has declined in quality. The prices are high for subpar food. My son's cheeseburger did not have cheese and he found it to be spicy. I thought he was exaggerating until I tasted the guacamole that was inadvertently added, which was very hot. Two male employees admitted they had made it with habanero. I was grateful that my 2 year old did not try it. When I informed the waitress, she showed no sympathy for my son and just laughed. I spoke with the manager, Bonnie, who apologized and offered a free milkshake and gift card for my son. When I visited the restaurant later, Bonnie was not there. The general manager, who lacked customer service skills, doubted my story because he had not heard of the incident before. I requested that he call Bonnie to verify, but he refused, saying it was her day off. Despite explaining that it was a long drive for me, he chose not to inconvenience her and, instead, inconvenienced the customer once again.
We found that both the appetizer and the burger patties at Hudson's Bar and Grill tasted like frozen meals that had barely been microwaved. After only a few bites, we asked our server for the check so that we could eat elsewhere. The server seemed surprised that we didn't want to take our food to go. I would recommend skipping this restaurant, as you won't be missing out on anything.
I'm not sure when a good time to come here would be. The outside reminds me of a retro diner which was awesome. It took a bit to get service but they didn't seem busy. Our waitress had the odor of smoked marijuana and she seemed like she was just there because she had to be. My patty melt and fries were decent, the toast was very hard. For some reason the patty melt came Garnished with an orange slice.
This place has an old school rustic vibe. From pictures of Marilyn to vintage signs which are very cool! The sandwiches are huge and delicious. I honestly can't remember the last time I had a curly fry. The waitress was extremely helpful. If you're looking for something a little different off the beaten path stop by here you won't be disappointed.
