leaving us nonsense! classic restaurant, classic menu and affection in everything. We chose the saloncito with the chimney a tomato salad and ventresca, some revolcons, goat, chuletón, judiones with morcilla and mushrooms, all very good and watered with a good bottle of wine besides desserts, soft drinks and coffee turkeys... This is not a posh restaurant! When we ate there this lunch time, most of the other clients appeared to be ordinary local people, which is often a good sign! The menu is short, and if there 's something else you 'd really fancy, it doesn 't hurt to ask... For example, I remembered that when I 'd eaten there before a couple of years ago, I had enjoyed fades con almejas (bean and clam soup) but they weren 't on the menu. I asked the waiter and his said that they did have the dish even though it wasn 't on the menu. Other typical local dishes for first course included callos (tripe), huevos rotos, and morcilla (blood sausage), calamares (squid), and croquetas, as well as a selection of salads. I had the excellent bean and clam soup which was extremely tasty and perfectly seasoned. My wife had fried calamares and commented on how much better they were than the often-greasy deep-fried, battered squid often served. My daughter chose the excellent croquetas de jamon and her only complaint was that there were too many! The serving was really enough for two people... The servings my wife and I received were also very generous. For second course, my wife chose merluza a la plancha (grilled hake), my daughter had chuletas de cabrito (goat-kid chops) and I had pierna de cabrito (roast kid leg). My wife was not totally impressed by her hake. She felt it was a little too greasy and tough for her taste. On the other hand, my daughter and I were both delighted with our choices which were cooked to perfection and very tasty indeed. By this time we had eaten very well indeed and didn 't really have room for the home-made desserts. Next time, we 'll share first courses! The service was excellent when we arrived but did slow down a bit as the restaurant filled up. It 's clearly a very popular local hostelry and they could really do with hiring another waiter for the weekends...
