We went on the Saturday night, had delicious food (I ate bear, a longtime dream and it did not disappoint! incredible drinks, the sea buckthorn liquor is amazing, and, couldn 't see it on the menu but we asked if they had Kvass, which they did (of course they did which was very good, clearly not the cheap stuff from an average shop. The staff were all efficient, and polite, saying outwardly friendly may be a little far, but they smiled and entertained my attempts at speaking Russian with good humour, although they all seemed to speak fluent English too. Either way, it was a decadent dinner of food and drink, and I 'd definitely recommend everything about the place. I had wild pickled mushrooms as a starter and bear stroganoff. My wife had dumplings and pancakes. We drank a range of their amazing liquors (they offer a tasting board of 5 , we picked all as 'Russian ' flavours as we could, or at least things we couldnt get in England: Sea Buckthorn, Chokeberry, Rowanberry, Pine Nut and Syrniki. Beer, okay I 'm a raging beer snob and their selection wasn 't great, there are some fantastic Russian breweries, but in all fairness to Troika, I imagine they 're hard to come by outside of Russia these days, and this place was very traditional so the latest, hypest, craft brewery from Moscow or St Petersburg doesn 't really fit the bill. As mentioned though, the kvass (bread beer was very good. Ended with a couple of shots, I took the посошок or one for the road, that came with a caviar chaser. Fully expecting little more than a singular grain of caviar, I was amazed that a whole spoonful came alongside the vodka, which was served approaching 0⁰ in a shot glass made of ice. We ordered okroshka with kefir. Simply amazing dish. It's like mom cooked it at home. The duck with wine and berry sauce was SUPER. The Caesar salad is top notch. The impression from the service is excellent, the attitude is that we are the best friends who came to visit them. I wish you prosperity!!! The staff w... read more I had a wonderful experience at this Russian café! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a cozy interior that feels both traditional and modern. The staff were friendly and happy to explain the menu, which was really helpful since some of the dishes were new to me. I tried the borscht and pelmeni—both were delicious, hearty, and full of flavor. The sour cream served alongside made everything taste even better. For dessert, the honey cake (medovik) was absolutely fantastic—light, layered, and not overly sweet. What I appreciated most was the authenticity. The café doesn’t just serve food, it feels like a small cultural experience. Prices were reasonable, portions were generous, and I left feeling satisfied and excited to come back.
