This is the type of local establishment that deserves more attention and success. Nobody seems to know it is here, the locals love it, the quality is outstanding, and the owner is a gem. Yes, it's just a donut shop and yes, Tim Horton's is down the street (every street). But this has the freshest donuts, the nicest staff, and the "our community" feel that seems to be missing in the chain donut shops. The owner is a gentleman, always there, and is the type of old-fashioned owner society has lost where your word is your word and a handshake is as good as a signed contract. I can't tell the whole story (doesn't make me look good)!, but I can say that he is exactly the type of principled, dedicated, and caring business owner that society now lacks. People drive by this donut shop a hundred times and never stop. Stop by, have a great donut, and support a local business with a great product and a great owner.

When you come in to this old fashioned donut shop usually during the day you'll run into this old success story Leon the Greek owner who hails from Greece. He's hospitable and friendly to his regulars and often you'll find him seated in the north east corner of his eatery accompanied by a mostly group of baby boomers and seniors who often get their ears bent by this well read donut owner over their freshly served coffees.Speaking of fresh coffee I had a fresh baked maple walnut coated cinnamon roll. Since coming to this place in the early 90's I've sample his delicious varieties of Maple walnut ice cream, starw berry ice cream apple pies various soups and those wonderful female servers behind the counter who are taught to traditionally welcome you when you come through those doors. There's not a rival donut shop that I can think of anywhere in Edmonton that displays the consistency that Leon's crew can while serving you and his quality food products that will have you returning again and again! This place has fresh, local-made donuts every day from 5am-12am, 7 days a week. All too often, there's a new donut maker on the block charging $3.50 to $5.00 per mediocre donut- it feels like some of the new "artisan donut makers" are wringing out the humble donut for all of its worth. poor donuts. Take Five is worth the visit for a great variety of down-to-earth, tasty donuts made locally with love- well worth a visit (if you love donuts)!

We're here today, the coffee is good, but we were disappointed with the donuts. It used to have unique donuts, but now they are just like Timmys or other coffee spots. They used to make the most delicious vanilla, honey and chocolate cakes like... crossers. We loved them, but they didn't have them anymore. I know his thing, but we really enjoyed it. Maybe they could be brought back. Thank you.

Do you want to experience the old school ma and pa style diner completely with freshly made daily donuts? Take five! Breakfast sandwiches here rock my world! The donuts are better than the freeze-dried chain we don't talk about as if you don't believe! Chilli,... soups, sandwiches, coffee, this place is such a great little neighborhood booklet, I hope it just stays forever!
