We've also been to the Mikado in the west end of Edmonton and food at both locations is excellent. However, the downtown location is in dire need of some renos and better cleaning. The chairs and tables are showing a lot of wear and the rug was really dirty. Not sure why a restaurant would have rug instead of tile or vinyl flooring; much easier to keep clean. What User doesn't like about Mikado:
Good quality sushi. It's pricy. There are a number of places in Edmonton that give you the best sellers (basic tuna and salmon rolls, sashimi, tempura veg) for much less.If you want a nice night out, with tampopo rooms, attentive service and nice twists on old favourites along with good breadth in available seafood, this restaurant works! I visited this place with my girlfriends on the weekend and it was pretty awesome.
Really friendly wait staff that make you feel welcome at this lovely Japanese restaurant.

Mikado = Japanese restaurantSituated in a non descriptive mall, the restaurant is anything but beige. It has a beautiful decor, a long sushi bar and classic tatami rooms. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive. The food is fresh and fabulous. My recommendation is the grilled fish
Great service as usual, and terrific fresh foods. We asked for a booth and got it, and the restrooms were clean.
