I tried the herbivore sandwich and a soy milk London fog at this restaurant. Both dishes were delicious. I plan to return to sample more of their menu.
The food is delicious but can be a bit expensive. My favorite dish is the brunch bowl. The staff are always friendly and we enjoy coming here on Sunday mornings. This cafe is definitely one of the best in the Glenora Crestwood area.
Wonderful service, and my chai tea latte was the absolute perfect temperature. Breakfast sandwich was also perfection. It was a wonderful stop right after a cold dog park walk, and I will certainly be back for more it 's great having a cafe with hot food options in the neighbourhood!<br/ <br/ <br/ Edit we were there again today (the long weekend , and Cafe Blackbird was a fantastic place to stop for lunch. It 's so nice to have a place nearby where we can get reliably awesome food that 's neighbourhood focused. Love it, and glad we 've made this one of our 'go to ' spots. :
I went to this café in the west end for the first time. I ordered a vegetarian panini and a coffee for lunch. I was happy to learn that you get a free refill with your meal. I wish more places offered this. I had the drip coffee, but they have a variety of options for coffee lovers. The panini was delicious and the service was very friendly. Overall, it was a great lunch experience.
Overall a very nice experience. I quite enjoyed café blackbird, the location was in a trendy little strip mall in a trendy little space with a very homie yet sophisticated feel. It kind of felt like a marriage between a wine bar and a community café. The drinks were fantastic, I went with my girl and we tried each others drinks so I got to have a taste of 4 different drink items, and they all blew my socks off. my standout favourite was the espresso martini which they have been making specially for Edmonton coffee week, but the maple whiskey hot chocolate was great to. They use iconoclast coffee, a local roaster who does pretty good work.Prices were a bit steep though. Even excluding the specialty coffees (liquor is always expensive) it was still a little more than the going rate on drinks. And though I thought the service was fine all-in all (the owner and the barista were both very friendly) I can see what some of the other commenters are referring to when they say it was bad. See, In terms of service, Blackbird doesn't seem to have it all figured out, they push you to take a seat and wait for table service like its a sit down restaurant, that's fine, we intended on staying a while, but a walk-up counter implies a different arrangement, and on top of that hey missed out on the accompanying trappings that make the sit-down arrangement good, like asking how everything was or asking if we want anything else which they were only patchy at at best. It was like a weird hybrid between a sit-down experience and your standard café arrangement, it didn't make it unbearable but it was certainly awkward.I feel like I would have really enjoyed this place on one of its live music nights, it has a good setup for that and the above average drink price but high quality drinks would have seemed very appropriate with a nice jazz show or a folk set.
