The food was really good. We had the fried chicken appetizer, which was delicious – definitely squeeze lemon on it. Galbi (Beef) was absolutely fabulous. Definitely a must have. Bulgogi was good, although not amazing, would probably recommend galbi instead. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. We loved our dinner. View all feedback.
What LisaS doesn't like about Soy & Pepper:
We’ve been craving a good Korean restaurant in the downtown area. This one comes close! I wish they didn’t charge us $5 a dish for kimchi. We missed all the side dishes that are typical in other Korean restaurants(for free). Otherwise, very friendly service. View all feedback.
The first thing they see when they enter soy pepper that it is not unusual, but it is very clean and welcoming. the next is the friendly face of a server. the menu is extensive with many great options. we were. here for dinner and tried several items, all great, but the bibimbap was fabulous. highly recommended.
After some research decided to take this place for our first taste of Korean food, partly because of the good reviews at another place and because of its inner city location. nothing beautiful inside, but bright and clean. the waitress was attentive and helpful, even if we had occasional problems with their strong accents. she even let us sample a sample size of kimchi, as we were empty to order a regular size if we hate it. it was very nice and appreciated. everyone seems to love Korean fried chicken, although I rarely eat fries food, we have ordered it to share as an appetizer. While it's very crispy, it's not something I'm going to get out of that. I'm sure if they love fried chicken, it'll be perfect for them. we shared the garlic and ingwer pork, that was very tasty, but not spicy. banchan or side, are not automatically brought with the main dishes, so they must order them separately, even the rice. we were there early, and until 19 o'clock the place began to fill. However, we have noticed that only one of the tables seemed to have Korean (or at least Asian) guests. we often use this as a measure for how authentic a restaurant is. we will certainly have Korean again, here or another place, and will try the spicy dishes next time.
Had there lunch break and wow! best meal of my 5 days stay downtown this week. when they go in it is open and a strong smell of oil from roast so not too much expected. the server went through. the menu with our small group. English was not great, but very friendly when we asked them to repeat and do it with a smile. had the Korean lunch house special thought oh to have leftovers because I am not a big eater too day, but oh no clean it all up! each dish was so delicious(there are 6 in this special) also ordered a homemade kim chi to go to home because it literally cost one of the best! everything made my taste buds with Korean taste. it was great. is back in the city of edmonton. recommend it if they are a lover of korean food!
We loved our dinner here! we started with fried chicken food. for dinner the galbi was amazing, a memory that we will appreciate for a long time. the waitress was very nice and attentive, with excellent recommendations. overall, highly recommended.
