Sankalp - Edison
Sankalp
Description
Recently renovated with elegant presentation and a wide South (and North) Indian menu, the restaurant can serve excellent dosas and prompt, pleasant service — but experiences are uneven. Patrons report long waits, inconsistent hours and pricing, small portions at times, and occasional hygiene and food‑quality problems (oily or undercooked dishes, bland chutneys). Management has been accused of rudeness. Worth trying for dosa lovers, but approach cautiously if you prioritize cleanliness, reliability or clear pricing.

Feedback
I don't recommend this restaurant due to its limited menu and rude staff. The dishes on display for the all-you-can-eat option are quite small and not tasty at all. I'm confused about what “all you can eat” actually means when there are so many restrictions. For now, I wouldn't suggest visiting this place.
Additionally, the staff member who served us yesterday didn't even bother to wear a mask. I've also noticed that the prices on the menu are inaccurate; they charge more than listed and claim prices have increased. Their closing time seems to be unreliable as well; I called a few weeks ago at 9 PM to place an order, only to be told they weren’t accepting any more orders. It’s disappointing to see one of my favorite South Indian restaurants decline to this level. I hope the owner takes this feedback seriously and makes improvements. Until then, I won’t be returning.
This is my first time writing a restaurant review, and unfortunately, it's not a positive one. I waited an hour for my food to arrive, and the quality was disappointing. The dosa was thick and had an odd smell, while the Chennai Uttapam was bitter and tasted strange. I've visited other Sankalp locations in India and had great experiences, but this time was the worst. I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The male owner and his wife were extremely rude to us when we provided feedback about the food and service. We experienced a wait time of over an hour, despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. Unfortunately, the dosas we ordered were the worst we have ever had. The Rava Dosa was cooked in poor-quality oil, which caused food poisoning. The spring dosa was served with large pieces of uncooked cabbage and tomatoes. The sambhar and chutneys were watery and lacked flavor. When we tried to address this with the owner, he abruptly hung up on us after using vulgar language. I strongly advise against ordering from this restaurant.
The food did not meet the expected standards for the price, and everything was served in surprisingly small portions. We ordered idli vada, and both were quite tiny. The dosa and uttapam took an agonizingly long time to arrive. The quality was subpar. The menu lacks specific details about the items, which leads to disappointment when the order finally arrives. I will not be returning.
