The Olive Branch in Edinburgh seems to have a mix of reviews, with some customers having great experiences while others found aspects of their visit lacking. The starters were praised by many, with particular mention of the haggis bon bons. However, some customers had issues with their main dishes, such as the disappointing fish and chips. Service was another aspect that received mixed feedback, with some finding the staff to be excellent and conscientious, while others felt underwhelmed. Issues with booking and timing were also mentioned, with some customers feeling frustrated by the experience. Despite these mixed reviews, the restaurant seems to have its highlights, such as great Bloody Marys, exceptional breakfast options, and delicious meals like salmon with pineapple salsa and cheesecake. Overall, the atmosphere of the restaurant was generally positive, with a bustling and friendly vibe that drew customers in. Recommendations were made for improvements in service to enhance the overall experience for diners.

Was Fiona Hawke at The Olive Branch Bistro a mag?
I have been to the Olive Branch a number of times for lunch and this was the first time for dinner but as always the food was lovely, the service is great and the ambiance just right. As a small restaurant the menu isn't extensive but there is a good variety and you don't feel you're packed in and on top of other diners. Great wine and cocktail menu also! View all feedback.
What Scott Lawrence dislikes about The Olive Branch Bistro:
Located in a convenient spot, this restaurant is perfect for get-togethers with friends. The food is tasty and reasonably priced, but unfortunately, the service tends to be slow due to being short-staffed. The tables are also too close together, making it difficult for those who are larger in size to comfortably fit in their seats. View all feedback.
A lovely venue for a date, we were tourists trying to get off the beaten track a little. The food was delicious and the service was very friendly. I particularly loved my crispy duck salad starter the flavours and the presentation. Highly recommended.
Be careful! We missed booking due to my 84 year old mum falling asleep charged £40. Bit steep! Understand there is a business to run but sour taste left and I’ll vote with my feet never be back.
Great meal with fresh, seasonal dishes, friendly service and a nice variety of options for all different tastes and ages! Would really recommend!
