I popped in here as I’d just left my dog at the groomers opposite (Milo Betty’s) and was warmly welcomed. I had drinks and a scone, but the next time I’m at the groomers, I’ll be having a meal from their extensive menu. It seemed to be a popular place with people walking the sections of the Water of Leith. The home baking counter is extensive and I’ll be working my through everything over the coming months Recommended wholeheartedly Service: Dine in Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: £1–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Scone
We popped into this little place on a miserable Saturday morning after seeing the pictures and reviews online. I had high hopes of the quality of the food given it is a delicatessen. I thought the price of the food would be reflected in the quality I anticipated. I think we caught this little place on an off day. The sit in was cold and dark which made it look a little tired inside. It has so much potential and the basis of something great. When the food arrived, the cappuccino was more of a flat white and the breakfast £14) was disappointing. The quality of the food I can only describe as being that of a supermarket and not a delicatessen. The bread was the exception to this and was lovely. The salad that accompanied the omelet was gritty. The omelette itself was good. It may have been just us being un lucky in our visit as the home baking looked lovely and the produce in the store looked top notch. A return visit may be a decider if this is a one off bad day or not. Food: 2 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3
